Such a troubled soul.

Amy Winehouse found dead
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her flat in north London, police said. She was 27 years old.

The soul singer struggled with drink and drug addictions. Her death is being treated as unexplained.

Same age as Jim Morrison.

Tragic.

And Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain. I was 27 when Cobain died; he was 4 months younger than me. I was glad to get out of that year.

Fitting really, that the last song she performed live was this one.

Is everybody happy?
knock, knock, knock, knock
You can't come in
knock, knock, knock
You can't come in

You're wondering now, what to do, now you know this is the end
You're wondering how, you will pay, for the way you did behave

Curtain has fallen, now you're on your own
I won't return, forever you will wait

You could also add Brian Jones to that list. A founding member of the Rolling Stones.

And this has what to do with cycling? Why not start a new thread on the Oslo tragedy while you're at it. I'm pretty sure 90+ people who get shot and blown up is a far worse tragedy than an overrated drug addict who OD'ed.

The thread is in the Cafe section of the Forum. a place for discussing non cycling matters.

I am not sure there is any way to compare one tragedy with another and I am not sure there is any value in making such a comparison.

Please can we keep this thread respectful and appropritate. We have always been good at this in the past on the Forum so let's try to keep it that way.

Cheers

No surprise. Sad, and a complex issue that appears quite simple to those of us fortunate not to be involved, but no surprise.

Usually the managers and other folk around the artist are to blame for this stuff. They want to milk them dry and put them on the road even when they should be staying away from all that crap until they can rehabilitate.

A great loss indeed. I feel sort of bad because I've wanted to get into her music, and now because of her death, I am. Sucks that you begin to like an artist because of something so tragic.

I always did find her attractive though.
