I think that's a hasty conclusion to come to based on a rider that decides to get drunk after dnf'g a stage race. He obviously has a problem and is choosing the wrong way to deal with it. He definitely needs help though but I wouldn't call an end to his career because of his one incident. He was making progress and likely would've finished T-A if not for the weather. I'm willing to bet that he finishes the next event he enters. Still though someone needs to intervene and get him some help in better dealing with his problems.

The weather was fine when he abandoned T-A.

Nothing wrong with getting drunk once in a while in the off-season.

In the middle of the season, however...particularly just after a stage-race...That ****s up your recovery completely and practically makes all the training you've gotten from the race worthless.

Isn't the liver the same organ that breaks down lactic acid? Alcohol is just training for him, his liver's capacity seems to be growing every year making him a better puncher/climber each season. Andy gets worse with alcohol though.
