It seems he has quit moping. And a "belly filled with anger" about his brother's sacking might be the motivation he needs to unleash himself and climb with abandon. No GC hopes, really, and no one to wait for. Nothing to lose and plenty to gain.

It'd be great to see as many animators as possible.

Great ride today! Andy just keeps looking better and better. Can't wait to see what he does in the Alps. I hope he goes on the attack and decimates the peloton in a similar manner to his Tourmalet ride. :D doing a lot better GC wise then I thought he would be at this point as well. That's very nice to see. :)

Much better performance by Schleck this time. Only the strongest were able to stay in the front group yesterday.

Still that additional minute he lost on stage 8 will bite Andy in the end methinks.

The good news is the wannabies (Zubeldia and Kloeden) are now gone in the GC, which will concentrate Shacks tactics moving forward.

Cracked totally today. Not that I expected him to do well in the TT. But outside top 100 riders?

This winter (once he finds a team) he should simply concentrate on TT. Nothing else at all.

He'll just have more room to attack and go for stage wins now. We'll see what he does in the mountains, but his time loss could very well turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Well I hope so too. But in general Andy def needs to up his TT skills. Else he will never even come close to winning it.

I mean we are at stage 11 - second guy in the GC is 3 mins down!:eek:

Its a joke and yet we have one more TT remaining. The way Froome is riding he will destroy that one as well. He has bought himself a ticket to crack at one mountain stage and still win the Tour with ease.

I agree, to win a GT he's either got to massively improve his TT (which I think is unlikely) or go for Giro or Vuelta.

As already said, this TT was worse than expected, but opens up the space he needs for the days to come. He will win on Ventoux and finish inside top 8.

This result has nothing to do with TT skills - he simply didn't have the power to achieve a good result.

I think he has barely trained on his TT bike because he spent all his time trying to get a decent form on a regular bike again. IINM he has done one (1) ITT since he broke his sacrum in June of 2012.

The performance sure was bad but as Afrank pointed out the result is more or less what Andy expected. He wanted to limit his losses to Froome to 3 minutes, it became over 4. But to all the other condenders he lost between 2 and 3 minutes, I think that's more or less what he calculated with from the start

This is a good week for Andy. He'll continue riding himself into form and peak in time for the last three Alpine stages, even though he might jump several spots already on the Ventoux stage. The remaining Tour has one mountainous tt, three MTF's, a medium mountain stage and a queen stage: any rider with less than six minutes advantage on Andy is unprepared.

If I've understood well, his goal now is not to drop further down the GC and to climb as high as it's possible.
That's a good and realistic goal. It doesn't compromise a stage hunt, too.

A Schleck has never had the ability to TT well, ever. As well the only GT stage he ever won was because no one chased him, knowing that in the forth coming ITT(TDF) he would fail miserably, and he did, while in the yellow jersey, at the peak of his abilities as a rider, and that is Andy in a nut shell.

Andy has about five or six professional wins.

No one can argue that Andy has any TT prowess, because he doesn't.

Last time I checked Andy had won more than one GT stage.
