Andy Schleck Discussion thread.

To me, Andy was arguably at his best in 2009: at least in the Ardennes and maybe the Tour too. Feel free to disagree, though. Looking at his results, he then had AGR 10th, FW 2nd, LBL 1st. So yeah, clearly irrelevant and not part of the real season.

In contrast to today's events, it looks like a long way to me. If it wasn't for Johann, beetroot juice and sniffing Sir Lancelot's chamois I'd probably cheer for the poor thing at this point.

Wait.. How come there has been new posts in the appreciaton and not the depreciation thread after today?

Because despite the titles of each thread people use both to talk about the same exact thing, how much they hate Andy Schleck.

...because it's impossible to have a one sided discussion in a forum, simples.

Anyway, at least he finished today...that is all

He just finished AGR 5 minutes down for crying out loud. He can't do it this year.

Win probably not but still a good result would be possible IMO ... today he was in the front until km 220 and FW is shorter and "easier" for the most part. But it seems like Horner and especially Fränk are in much better shape though

You think FW is flat all the way to the Mur? If your form is this bad you won't do anything on the Mur. Can he survive till the Mur? I guess, but so can the entire peloton.

Last year he had good shape and he still failed big time at FW. What makes you think he will ride a good result in bad shape?

If I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up and wait till July. It's the only thing Schleck cares about anymore these days. And you know it. Schleck got dropped today while the peloton was still pretty big.

Because Andy's name itself makes Contador fans panic. Only don't tell me "what does Contador have to do with that?!" cos today there's a full house of your posts in this thread. :)

hmmm i don't know what you, andy's fans expect here from him really...bruyneel said clear that it's a mistake to spend energy in ardennes in order to win le tour...the sad thing is that they will apply it also on frank...maximum boost in july of course might work but as we know in cycling,a crash or a mechanical basically can ruin all your season if you're a only tour guy.with armstrong it worked because he wasn't human and i mean that mentally,he was build from something else, schlecks unfortunately aren't like that

Oh yeah....you say Andy Schleck, I wet myself in fear...get a grip Airstream.

Why would Contador fans panic, lets think a rider who starts winning in Feb and continues right through the season compared to someone who only gives a monkeys about three weeks in July....AND STILL CAN'T BEAT HIM ON THE ROAD.....oh yeah, we're quaking in our Sidi's.

Schleck certanly got the talent and are good enough to win the tour. but they are lacking the mentality to be a winner, as you compared it to Armstrong, so 100% agree with the bolded part.

i think you mean is. frank is hyped simply because he is andy's brother. he had the obligation of dropping andy and evans on l'alp this year after their exploits on that day and the previous day, yet he was still the weakest of the tree.

Am increasingly becoming a detractor of Andy Schleck. As well as just seeming pretty arrogant, he just seems to do nothing almost all the season. I respect the Liege win, and he rode well at Liege last year, but he's looking unlikely to do that this year. Last year it was all about the Tour de France and nothing else - he was poor at Tour de Suisse on GC, didn't show at San Sebastian, the events either side of the Tour de France. This year he's shown no signs of doing anything either. Evans beat him last year and Evans races all year - he's won races in March, he's won races in October. Schleck seems to treat other races with contempt, but what has he actually won in his career? What gives him the right to do that? It's not exactly a great haul, is it? He's almost turning into Jan Ullrich now, minus the Vuelta win.

I dont get it how the hell Andy will win the tour with 110km ITT+2 descent finishes with only 3 MTF as he failed to win last year with much more favorable conditions?

Gaargh. My english sucks. I mean that Andy Schleck got the physical talent and ability to win the Tour at some point, but his mentality is weak, so i don't think he will win the tour on the road, at any point.

Yep. Frank had his chance. Sastre had his chance.

Frank blews it Sastre took it.

1 is a champion, 1 just is not.

I can't know for sure, but that's obviously one of the reason why you come into this threat and complete who needles Andy more refinedly and cynically, cos you are not concerned about his results out of thoughts regarding his rivarly against Contador. And beyond doubt the only idea that The Legend can be equal by the number of the Tour titles to Contador causes your thrill and maybe even insomnia. :)

The same way Evans failed to win the Tour in 2008 with a route much more suited to his characteristics and then won it this year with only 40km of TT. It's cycling, almost everything can happen specially if you're one of the most consistent GC riders on the race. Like Andy Schleck.

Andy can win the tour if he goes crazy on Toussuire (Most suitable stage for him)
Will he go?Probably not
