Ya!!! Finally. What a joke he has been the last 2 years. I understand him taking time to recover from the fractured hip he had, but the way he has ridden since recovering is just disrespectful to his team and the sport imho.

Sad to see him go. Say what you will, I for one am never happy to see a rider end his career because of injury. Not even Contador I would be happy. Has a bit of a "kicking a guy when he's down" feeling to it. No offense.

He has had the worst injuries you could possibly have. You can fracture your collarbone as often as you want, put some screws in there and you'll be fine. Sacrum is bad, and tearing everything that holds your knee together is worse. Many football players also have to end their careers because of similar injuries.

I understand that you might not be sad to see him go; he has personally offended many of you. But this way? Wouldn't be enjoyable for me. But then who knows, this injury, like the last, might well be all made up.

Surely it would the exact opposite of a DNF, because he would have, ermm, finished?

Got to say I never liked Schleck particularly as a rider (the hypocrisy around neutralising that stage in the tour, and then not waiting the very next day when his brother crashed, and also his *****ing about down hills in 2011 didn't endear me to him) but this is a bit sad - he's only 29, and the way he got injured in the tour by a dumb-*** spectator is just really bad luck.

I wasn't a fan, and won't miss Andy, with what he's become basically since leaving Riis, but I'm sorry for him if he is retiring. Hopefully he has invested his money wisely and has some sort of plans for his future - something he can look forward to. Wish him the best.

Trek sent out the invitations at least. I suppose that doesn't necessarily need to mean anything. But I think if he had signed with another team (Cult for example), it would be Cult who would anounce it and not Trek

Here is an article in French: cyclismactu.net, saying "Schleck has called the press (...) as his team indicated this tuesday through a press release"

Here in German: tageblatt.lu, saying "A new employer will probably not be presented, as the invitation to the press conference came through Trek Factory Racing"

It's not that hard to feign the rightful anger even you don't think it's rightful. Armstrong would have put in an academy award winning performance of righteous indignation had he been second in that tour.
