DirtyWorks - I told you all this, and explained the formula, weeks ago. You know that. Cycling, tier 2 sport, should get around 15m £S - about 1/2 what athletics gets, exactly the same as swimming and gymnastics.

I went through this with you in a fair amount of detail, and you tried very hard to ignore it.

And here we are with the silly pet theory again.

I call trolling.
I call, calling out trolling fail.

Martin,

I didn't ignore it. really. I thanked you in the Sky thread. I dump IOC stuff in here with some editorializing because they drive the anti-doping controversy policy and are a rich source of corruption themselves which the UCI emulates. I should have posted a link to your reply.

I agree with you that it is crazy talk. Really. As mentioned in the Sky thread, it's probably wrong too. It won't be the first time. But shouting it down is not really discrediting the crackpot theory.

I'm afraid I didn't read the dates properly. Entirely my bad. My apologies, dirty Works, the accusation was unfair in light of that. Withdrawn.

You are quite right, doctor, my bad entirely. I simply didn't read the dates. I have apologised to Dirty Works, and withdraw the comment entirely.

Hey, no worries - I thought it was quite harmless and humorous, kudo's for the way you acknowledged it.

If you want the horrible truth, I spend a fair amount of my working life 'correcting' people. It's good for my karma to admit when I've been stupid. ;)

Italian Olympic Committee

A must-read:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/italian-judge-says-doping-is-still-a-problem-in-cycling

. Roberti is a former military judge and angered the Italian Olympic Committee anti-doping investigators by refusing to share evidence he has collected during his meticulous investigations.

Why wouldn't the Olympics movement let law enforcement/judicial do their job then come in later, after their work is done? A perfect example of the IOC's "anti-doping controversy" policies.

Mark Block and Nike's London Olympics Box

An old story, but definitely offers some insight into just how much the IOC enables doping.

http://www.letsrun.com/2012/block-0701.php

Mark Block was banned by the USA Track and Field federation for 10 years starting just prior to the London games and was photographed leaving Nike's hospitality suite at the London games.

The guy running letsrun.com appears to have a conscience and gets the "big picture." Let's hope his press credentials haven't been rejected going forward.

Here's the discussion thread. None will be suprised it has some pretenders attempting every possible way to discredit the basic facts. http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4667211&page=0

An excellent retrospective on the scandalous politics of the IOC. I'm shocked velonews would publish it as their long, long history of protecting UCI/USAC every way possible would suggest otherwise.

http://velonews.competitor.com/2013...tion-doping-collusion-at-the-ioc-uci_270482/1

Legendary summary of corruption in sports governing bodies, first and foremost the IOC.
Good lord.

I mean you know it's rotten to the core, but still, to have it thrown in your face like this. Wow.
And the nature and depth of the corruption. Jaw dropping.

Lets see which media pick this up.

Pat's Been Demoted

Uhh ooohhh. It looks like Pat's prospects at the IOC have cooled.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/01/23/us-olympics-uci-mcquaid-idUSBRE90M19Q20130123

Historically, Hein was a member of the selection committee when China won the bid. His time on the selection committee very, very likely paved the way for the Tour of China show where there are bike racers racintg, but that's all.

As per earlier posts in this thread, being on the selection committee is a great opportunity for accepting bribes.

It remains to be seen if Pat's future is taking a little break so people forget before he gains more power, or if he's hit the ceiling. Damn those Clinic 12!

Needed to add the crucial part. After all, Pat's a pro and he knows what his vote is worth. Wonder what the kickback to Hein is or is Pat just working a franchise option...

Historically, Hein was a member of the selection committee when China won the bid. His time on the selection committee very, very likely paved the way for the Tour of China show where there were bike racers racing, once upon a time and unlikely to be repeated without another major cash infusion, but that's all.

Even better!

Dave.

It looks like the IOC is trying to quiet the cycling controversies. They need someone to repeat the mantra "Cleanest peloton ever in 20xx."

http://www.independent.ie/sport/oth...ncreasingly-under-the-microscope-3361316.html

The guy ticks all the boxes that matter for the IOC though...

-Monetized the local federation
-Ran a winning public/private program
-Minimized doping controversy
-Seems sufficiently anti-doping to a casual audience.

Too bad Hein will not be leaving.

IOC Pressure to end Doping Controversy

Very late to post this, but Pat/Hein are trying to get sports federations to strangle WADA funding to shut down any potential changes to the UCI.

IMHO, they buried the story's most important point: The letter is thus a direct play to members of a body with significant input into how the agency is funded, a political move which WADA may not appreciate.

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/1...members-to-request-WADA-eases-off-on-UCI.aspx

For the casual reader, the point is to quiet any doping controversy. The IOC and its member sports like doping, but dislike doping controversy. A nice bonus is it lets Hein and Pat continue to run the UCI as they see fit.

London Games "Break Even"

ESPN reports the London Olympic Organizing committee appear to be breaking even. I assume the article is referencing pounds when talking about money amounts.

The government finances 14.2 billion.
The Organizing committee has about 3.8 billion in revenue and expenses.

A good deal of money has passed through to the IOC sports federations. This story suggest $475 million. http://www.asoif.com/News/News_Article.aspx?ID=2785

In a classic business move, the Organizing committee has to contract for services owned by the IOC. For example, Olympic Broadcasting Services provides the video production services for Olympic games. http://www.obs.es/index.html

Interested to know how many different ways Hein was personally enriched by the London games. He's on the Board of Directors of the broadcast production company for the Olympic games. http://www.obs.es/organisation.html

A reminder of the production issues during the Men's road racing event:http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/28/bbc-olympic-broadcasting-services-cycling
