I think "the bus pulled over to the side of the road and we all got a blood refill" counts, especially if corroborated by multiple sources.

I have to admit how blatant it all was. I mean I thought at least Lance the man would have always transfused on his own out of sight. But I guess he was showing that he was a "team" man and hooking up with the lads at refill time.

With all those witnesses why didn't Lance just give Floyd a ride at Radioshack? I wouldn't have wanted this s@it to get out. I guess Lance gambled that Floyd wouldn't go the nuclear bomb approach.

I thought Landis' leaked allegations indicated he saw Lance dope or saw evidence of it (Lance's blood he says he was safekeeping). It is probable that only some of Landis' emails and information was leaked. The federal investigators wouldn't convene a grand jury based only on what has been made public.

Yes, Landis claims that he and Lance underwent transfusions in a hotel room and on a team bus.

I think it's just a sign of how deeply ingrained this whole doping culture is. Most likely no one thought much of doing it in plain sight. I actually find it a bit surprising that they were so careful with hotel rooms.

Classic comment from the Perez Hilton site:

His team was a bunch of dopers (supposition ok with regard to them). All the other cyclists were a bunch of dopers (again, supposition ok with regard to them too). This leaves Armstrong as the ONLY clean rider in the peloton, because whether he did or not is "still open to question" (supposition NOT allowed here).

Gotta love the unsolicited dig at Contador too..

The commenter did say Armstrong doped, if fact he said all top cyclists dope. Its also funny that he knows Contador is doper. He pretty much nailed cycling right there. The sad part is I'm going to guess this is not a cycling fan just very sad statement about what the average Perez poster knows about our sport.

Classic indeed. This one, however, is my favorite for its mixed metaphor and general strident tone:

"Lance Armstrong is one of the most tested athletes in the world. The man can't take a leak without someone asking for a sample. If he WERE doping he would have to be some kind of magician to get away with it for so long.
All the critics need to take their sour grapes, build a bridge and GET OVER IT!!"

I seem to recall a certain Marion Jones claiming *she* was the most tested athlete in the world at one point, and had never failed a doping test...

I'm also wondering if it's Frankie A. who's the former teammate they refer to in the NYT article.

Why not Andreu?
Partly because Frankie left USPS two years before Floyd even got there. Partly perhaps because Frankie already confessed, likely to all the doping he ever did. Partly also because he was never one of the select riders who got to "train" in the Alps with Ferrari.

I do not think that George will be talking anytime soon. That's Zia Modabber, George's Lawyer, on the left. Matt Tolmach (President of Columbia Pictures) on the right. Good detective work. Strange and bothersome the way these people have bit on the whole bait. Tolmach is a smart guy, hopefully he'll open some newspapers and wise up.

Hincapie will really be stuck between a rock and hard place soon.

I am trying to catch up here, just some observations:

To anyone who thinks the American public won't care, or this will blow over.

No, up until this Lance (& his entourage) have always had control over their destiny. They manipulated the media and had control of the narrative and they also had the UCI & USAC complicit to avoid a scandal that would rock the sport.

This is gone.
The Fed's do not care and cannot be bought off by him- and this story is now carried on all the major papers, NYT,WSJ,ESPN,ABC,NYDN.... Worse still is the news outlets are fighting over it to be the ones to 'break' new stories.

It is almost 3 months since the Landis emails and the story is continuing to surface, the drip drip reporting is producing a constant wave of doubt and suspicion.

Lance's achievements were done with PED's - but his legacy and image were built by the media and they have started to turn.
It will be a simple case of - the bigger they come, the bigger they fall.

ironically, an LA documentary honestly depicting the rise and fall would be fascinating and is a potential gold mine. i doubt that's the type of film they're working on tho.

Uh, it's "...the harder they fall". Depending on the lore, often attributed to Bob Fitzsimmons before beating Jim Corbett. But Jack Dempsey definitely stated it to the press more than once, before he flattened Jess Willard, and later Luis Filipo. Fighters much larger than he.

If Tolmach is that smart, maybe he will.

MR Lance great bike racer no question, but he also giant d-bag and destroy others who cross him, including close former friends and teammates who give him much careers. Like Ben Jacques-Maynes twitter, "do you want to cheer for false heroes?". Ben kinda d-bag to be honest, but he clean d-bag and right this time. MR ARmstronG say "no gifts", I agree, no gifts mR. Armstrong except maybe soap for prison.:D

yep, when this (bolded) happens it's OVER. i think the "dripping" is the worst way for the story to unfold. the public keeps getting frequent subtle reminders...it's like pulling a band aid off slowly.

I always found it odd that Frankie Andreu was given the VS task of finding Lance and interviewing him between stages at TDF. can you say awkward?

Lance specifically asked for him--maybe part of showing how open he was to everyone during his return. Frankie was surprised by the request, but went along with it. Some very funny Toto cartoons on the subject.

Moderator Alpe d'Huez specifically says anyone who makes claims of having inside information without backing it up or revealing their own real identity, is a troll, but because he is friends with Race Radio he allows him to do this. That's how this forum operates.

Since I went away over a week ago they have now set up BPC fan club or something, which is interesting. But BroDeal let slip in the same thread that they already have a community that coordinates their troll attacks on other forums. It's not even a secret anymore. You only have to google around for a few minutes to find BroDeal talking about how they were going to coopt cycling news forums and use it to spread propaganda.

Nice people.

Interesting. Was Alpe d'huez himself one of the trolls over there who set up camp here? That would make a lot of sense.

You make him sound like some really important figure in world history. He's just a sportsman that was very good at winning the TdF and brought a lot of help to people with cancer.

It's sort of strange to me that Americans are supposedly so ignorant about cycling as it claimed here. Surely after Landis tested positive it would have opened some eyes to the nature of the top end of the sport? And aren't America's main sports filled with unchecked drug use? So why would they be so shocked about cycling? Or are they?

I suppose he might not be the Hollywood A-lister so much anymore after this, but I find it hard to believe Americans would throw one of the greatest athletes that country has produced under the bus so easily. There might be an initial emotional spasm, but in the long run the greatness of his achievements will surely win through, like they did for Merkx before him and all the other greats.

It's not up to public opinion when someone breaks the law.

Tim McVeigh, huh? That's OJ and McVeigh comparisons done.

The law is some technicality that no one had ever thought of before a few weeks ago. There is no need to be pious about it.
