Didn't realize those were locked, lol. Radioshack thread is good, yeah. We've already had a conversation on how many pages will it have before the TDF starts and after it's done somewhere.

I think that is why we have seen some posters disappear and other randomly navigate the forum for a trace of HWSNBSO threads to latch on to, pretty funny if you ask me. :D +1 to the mods that came up with that joke!

Are you suggesting we fill the forum with appreciation/depreciation threads on the most pointless things we can think of? Because I think thats a great idea :D

thats possibly against the rules, but i cant actually find the forum rules, so maybe not.

found em..

(e) Upload, post or otherwise transmit any Content which is un-necessary and/or repetitive
http://www.futureplc.com/terms-and-conditions/

So un-necessary or repetitive content is against the forum rules, so you would have do convince people that the un-necessary thread was in fact necessary.

Not all of the rules here are so black and white. Mainly it depends on the mods: the rules are what the mods say they are. (And this mod already said that would not be a good idea.)

The main rule here is to use common sense, but that seems to be a rare commodity.

Well, anyone who thinks that it's OK for any stage winner at the Giro to have their own appreciation thread, but it's not OK for a winner of ToL stage to have one is an friggin' LUXEMBOUROPHOBE and should be ashamed of themselves

I think the "you must not post anything un-necessary" is a pretty solid catch all :D

The only bad thing about the A/D threads is the people who continue to post in them to only state they hate them (those threads), shouldn't they just not be reading/posting in threads they hate? They should be here though piling on instead.

Or should those of us that hate thread X or about X start to post how we hate those threads? This includes the supposed mods who are at a loss what to do, hey piling on in on the hate, guess you're catching on? ;)

When LaFlorecita is the top poster in the Andy Schleck Appreciation thread, you know something's not quite right.

Like the kid that fights with the girl he likes in grade school the connections should be obvious :D

Personally I think that would be a great way for some members to get themselves banned.

I was mainly joking about that, see the second part of my post I wasn't joking about.
In all seriousness though, is there anything the mods can do about these threads, because they are really getting annoying.

Well, let's see if I'm making this connection right. So LaFlori is a boy that "fights" Andy all the time.
Andy Schleck does look and act kinda girly, but are you calling him an outright girl?

So it's not a good idea to go to the teams and rider lists and just copy every one down with an A/D thread(s) to just pre-empt what we all know is coming anyway?

You hate that but fuel the fire, yea great job at increasing the threads you don't like! At least you'd only have yourself to blame.

Instead why don't you start threads you do like and ignore those you don't? You know feed your likes?

Wow.
I feel the blast ElC.

You don't really see me do stuff like that do you?

Maybe you can explain your barrage a little better then.

I only post in threads I want to take part of because I like the subject, I like the humor, I like something about it. I also try to give posters info if possible, I also like to banter in a fun way with posters. I do think there are threads I hate or dislike or if you may depreciate and well just don't even click on them, yes I may have fallen into those pits once but know not to go again and if I do I don't start adding to it.

Posting a "I don't like this bla bla" comment in a thread only brings it back up to the top where more people can read and comment, ignoring those threads you dislike or disappreciate will help remove them or move them out of sight for you and for the forum in general. The Mods that keep baiting everyone with their pot shots in those thread are only fueling them to greater heights which if you think about it is good for the forum as it gets more hit counts. So even if they say they don't like them they also know its good for the company, even if some of the mods don't get paid (which is totally BS).

So in conclusion, don't feed the threads you don't like (depreciate if you will).

Got your point.

I don't post "i don't like bla bla comment " in a thread. I did start this thread.

You don't agree with the mods, you don't like bla bla ...

Actually I'm with Pistolero on this one.

What is you don't like about the threads? Why are they so objectionable?

If they don't interest you, then don't read them.

Susan

My point being what could BE an interesting thread becomes clogged almost immediately with simpy and whiny personal insults and digs....
thus it goes with every A/D thread right on down the line.

Not sure what Pistolero has said but what I am seeing and hearing from El C is that I should stay away from threads that I don't like---which I do---but he is posting vociferously and negatively in this one (which I started to voice my own opinion) which seems to contradict the 'advice' that he is so graciously trying to aim at me.

In addition, if they are not 'so objectionable' then why the h?ll are the mods so busy in them all the time?

May be that by starting this A/D opinion thread it illustrates why the current A/D threads are not the most functional.

Sounds like an invitation to crap flood the forum. Oops, it already happened and the chief mod doesn't care.

No wonder half the decent posters left.

All I'm hearing is how threads are terrible but if you don't start your own great threads how will those bad threads (in your view) ever be circumvented? You need to voice your views and likes, nagging the forum how its terrible is just adding to the hate.

Start a thread on the subject matter you like or want discussed! I'm not saying not to or to go away, I want to read more positive, thought provoking, happy, joking, incitefull threads I keep hearing about.

Come on do something for the forum, its not about how bad everyone is but what you bring to it.

Appreciation thread are a great idea, why can't posters have the oppportunity to moon over the riders they suport?

Depreciation threads are another thing entirely; they are quite ridiculous and epitomise everything which is wrong here, as it is not necessary in the slightest to bash riders and it should certainly not be encouraged.

The other problem currently is the bashing of the Schlecks which are going on, it is getting not only tiresome but plain stupid and while that is certainly not a crime it seemingly degrades the forum to an unecessary level.
I recently posted a post where i listed some of the threads which bash the Schlecks, there are about 30 of them or some ridiculous number and they effectively consist of any thread which relates even remotely to the brothers.
Also the hijacking of the appreciation threads and others threads into what deteriorates into these squabbles is also something which is imo inappropriate as well.

Depreciation is fine, yet to express such hate is not. I think that if you searched the depreciation threads the only proper ones you would find are:
Concerning the Schlecks (RSNT/Bruyneel) and Cav and Wiggins.
This is not about people depreciating riders but rather posters taking the opportunity to express hate. Mainly geared towards the Schlecks, the Wiggins thing is fine as generally it has not degenerated into idiocy, yet this surely begs the question as to whether the forum really needs this?
