In this area at this time of the year there could have been some really serious crosswinds that'd make Qatar look silly.

But of course, there's virtually no wind at the moment and it's predicted to remain that way throughout the race. Which means that every stage will just be a boring bunch sprint...

This is so beautiful. Can't care less for the race with such an amazing scenery in the background.

Absolutely. My friend and I sat watching with open mouthed amazement. Breathtaking, stunning! Anyone know of any highlights posted anywhere?

Try watching the youtube clips of the classic week-long broadcast of the view from a Hurtigruten ship. Incredible stuff. I highly recommend just turning out the lights, sticking on something like some Brian Eno, and watching the scenery go by.

The forum discussion.

Not a good time of the year for getting forum attention though. Lots of races on at the same time. I used to have no idea what was going on in Denmark because Poland, Burgos and Portugal all overlapped so there was just no room for it in my cycling viewing time, and it seems like the Arctic Race has just dropped into that mix as well, so as long as all it really has to offer me is the (admittedly jawdropping) scenery, I'm going to view it as little more than a bit of pleasant viewing of no consequence before the real deals of Burgos and Portugal.

I can agree to the critics about it was boring profile of the race, but after all it was the first time the arranged this race and of course is not the biggest race in the calender but is kind of ground breaking bringing a cycling race so far north. For me personal it was great to finally see some great cycling here in North of Norway. I think and I hope this race will develope in the future years, and then i agree it needs to be a harder race in the future. But for the first time to be arranged I think they did pretty well. So credits to the people having this idea and making it happen.

And finally I am posting a link for the photos I took for from the race:

For me it was great to get a chance to get some photos of the peleton and to see them in real life, not only on tv. I think ASO is doinbg a great job bringing cycling to new parts of the world, it is really what cycling needs to develope in the right direction.

I don't see what going further north has to add to a race, unless they're going to race in the snow at -10 celcius in Greenland or something. The lovely scenery at least distracted from the boring race though. :)

Put an asphalt road up one of those mountains, make sure the wind is blowing causing an echelon stage next year and this would be a great race.
