Quote:
His pledge to be transparent by posting the results of blood tests on his Web site backfired when those numbers came under intense and often negative scrutiny. An editing change in one entry during the spring prompted discussion on fan blogs and message boards. His blood values from tests during the Tour itself provoked intense debate when a Danish scientist publicly called them "suspect," although other experts disagreed. The results have since been removed.

Tuesday, Armstrong sarcastically derided his critics but said he no longer feels the need to participate in any supplemental anti-doping program or offer testing information.

"To be attacked like that and accused of something that's complete nonsense, it's not worth it," said Armstrong, who said he has been tested more than 50 times since returning to the pro ranks and expressed faith in the biological passport analysis undertaken by cycling authorities. "I think the testing we do through the international agencies and the domestic agencies is going to have to be enough in the future."

This is very sad that even the marriage is not off topic for some.

Diversionary tactics....

How about the lie of telling the world in his second book that Ullrich didn't wait for him on Luz Ariden when he clearly did. This even after he made the stupid mistake of crashing. 2 years later when questioned on it he said that Hamilton told him that Ullrich didn't wait and he believed him discounting the video evidence.

Ullrich did not wait it was as clear as the video.

Of course he now admitted that he manufactured (Another word for lie) his past conflicts.

Manufactured conflict, that sounds kind of like House.

Yeah, it's just that Ullrich is a lazy europro who can't help but freewheel in the midst of trying to ride away from a rival. Which sometimes tends to make it look like he is waiting when he is really not.

Even Kristin has talked about him publicly. FedEx love it!
______
It was in February, during yet another training session, that the couple separated after a row. Kristin, who he married five years ago, had thought she would be able to bear long absences from her husband and raising their children often alone. But the reality was proving different.

Anyone who visited Armstrong's website, where former PR executive Kristin wrote an online journal, could see the storm approaching.

"I hate the feeling of a family divided. Maybe I can get Lance to do the 50-miler on tandem with me next year," she wrote. Sometimes I get so busy doing for everyone that I forget what I think is fun. My spirit needs a little sun.

"I try to carve out escapes for myself. One night, I was staring off into space, scrubbing pots like a woman possessed, dreaming of going to Jamaica, alone."

The day after the split was announced - by email to their local paper in Austin, Texas - the entries disappeared from the site. Soon rumours began emerging that Armstrong had been having an affair with a student from San Francisco. His agents refuse to confirm or deny the allegations, but Armstrong has always been known as a ladies' man. When he was single, he earned the nickname FedEx, whose company slogan is "When you absolutely, positively have to have it overnight". Kristin remembers: "My friends were hoping he would not go anywhere near me. They were like, 'pro athlete, really good-looking - forget it'. Even Armstrong admits: "Kristin was unsure about me. She had heard about my reputation. She didn't intend to be a casualty."

I wonder how the new squeeze likes his long absences? I doubt the relationship will last. I think it's tough on many pro cyclists to maintain their relationships.

Of course, this isn't just Armstrong. How many times have your heard some big wig or elite athlete say they wanted to retire to spend more time with their families only to be out doing something else soon after.

Yeah, Yeah, we get it......and he used Ferrari to prepare for the Hour record, Catlin is going to test him "Any time, Any where", and he did not chase down Simeoni.

Amazing how many people still believe in fairy tales.

I never understood how chasing down another rider during a race was supposed to be unethical or unsportsmanlike?

I had the same thought this year about Hincapie missing yellow. I would have enjoyed to see him in yellow -and there is the dispute is whether LA did it, Garmin did it, or his own team killed his chances - but it is still a bike race and riders are supposed to be proving they, or their team, are the best.

Maybe I missed something, Did Garmin chase down George because he testified in a court case that Lance's "Coach" had helped him get EPO?

Armstrong chased down Simeoni, and Eki spit on him, for one reason. To try to shut him up. To enforce the Omerta. I am sure we can all agree there is little ethical about that.

Odd how LA used his "stud wife" to enhance his image. It's ok to feature her prominently for a PR advantage which adds to his bottom line, but his marriage is somehow off limits when it's exposed that he's not faithful in that marriage.

Then his ex wife is called to testify in a legal proceeding which may reveal drug use in the sport, and the fans of LA try to compartmentalize her out of the picture.

So it would have been ok to chase down Simeoni if he had just go to the press that LA was a jerk and womanizer, but since he talked about EPO that LA should have ignored it, giving him whistle blower status?

I do not understand your question....Did George call JV a Womanizer?

No matter how you spin it chasing down Simeoni was a stupid move. Even Armstrong admitted this.

Huh?

LA chased down a guy who was hours down in the GC and then when he and Simeoni drop back he does a lips sealed mime. Then Eki spits on him!

Hello, anyone home?

Lance is very private about his love affairs. He hires photographers then releases books each with a different girlfriend/wife. Off limits yeah right.

Ahh the memories:

Yeah, odd how Tyler caught up to Ullrich so easily after he had been dropped.

I think the LA fans were expecting Ullrich to unclip and stand on the side of the road.

Any slower and he'd have ended up in the dirt, too. I blame Tyler for over playing the ass kissing.

I know, it seems like Simeoni is reading a script with a guy out of sight holding a gun aimed at him. But that is not the case....?

It does seem like the guy is reading a statement, like somebody gave him the statement and said read it or you're next on the uci list
