De Lie's contract with Lotto D is until the end of 2026, so Lefereve is doing some "poaching" or has a very busy schedule.

I think there is no need that every big Belgian Flandrien Classics star has to ride for Lefevere’s team.

Van Petegem was super good at Lotto-Domo, van Aert is super good at Visma. And certainly more such examples.

I am actually quite happy that Lotto-Dstny were able to keep de Lie until 2026. This team much too often can be regarded as a team for the early breakaways, and has an image somehow as a team that loses a lot, at the races.

I‘m happy for this Lotto-Dstny team they keep de Lie. That was only possible because de Lie (at the moment!…) seems to be a sane, loyal, down-to-earth young guy, with a strong, impressive character… This character is also what he needed to withstand Lefevere‘s offers.

But let‘s be honest, if de Lie has a world class March and April, talks about a premature transfer will immediately arise. (And if so, I hope he will NOT join Lefevere.)…

De Lie looked strong which augurs well for future races. Though I couldn't understand the tactics of bringing all four riders to the front in the final 5kms to chase Politt and Tratnik. Thought two would have been enough and leave DeBuyst to do a lead out for De Lie.

They had to go 100% all in -- it was their only chance to win, I think.

De Lie did look really strong, though -- for some reason I always think of him as a flat sprinter but he can get over the "-bergs" really well for a heavy guy.

Luckily it could have been a worse crash, but a shame that he did n't get the chance for a win. Time to heal some bruises and scrapes (and maybe take it a little easier amongst the cars next time) before Paris-Nice on Sunday.

Biggest issue I have with his statement is that the car driver does whatever he wants to do. However he wants to react in the situation in front of him. You aren't in control of the car, so don't assume he'll do whatever you think he will do when you don't have a proper view of the situation anyway. Don't blame the driver that you took more risks by being so close to it to get back more quickly.

I agree, it's definitely his age. He'll learn over time. Look at Evenepoel and how he has matured since he was 19.
