He's still doing Etoile de Bessèges, so it's probably fine? Unless you know more

It's not decided yet. It doesn't look that bad for now (only thing I know), but it's a knee so there's always some precaution and I'm always a bit scared when I hear about cyclists having knee pain. For example Van Eetvelt also just stayed off the bike as a precaution at first last year. Docters often just say to rest a few days without really knowing what the problem is.

Mechanicals and chasing back ruined Arnaud's chances.

I had bad luck with my wheel and had to switch bikes, which meant I had to chase back à bloc. Right before the Molenberg, there was a crash that held me up. Just before the Eikenberg, I made it back to the peloton, but by then, I had spent my best energy,"
"I'll stay positive for the rest of the spring anyway. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, but you learn from that. I may not have had the best day of my life, but we'll stay positive."

Isn't he scheduled for PR? He did it in 2023 and was supposed to ride it last year as well if I remember correctly.

Of course he is. In 2023 he was also pretty good in it. Just had like 3 flats, one of them being just before the velodrome, meaning he couldn't sprint for a top 15.

That being said, let's first see if he can get into some good form this classic season, cause at this point he's a worse rider than in 2023. Don't ask me why, I have no idea what's going on with him honestly (even tho I'm not a really big fan of his view on training right now).

I really like the guy, but I'm getting a lot of van Aert vibes. Yesterday another mechanical at Le Samyn and then he was hindered by Hofstetter in the sprint. It seems that something always happens in one day races that suits him. And just like van Aert it seems that he often underperforms a little bit and that he hasn't lived up to the hype so far. I know he's still very young but I haven't seen much progression from him since he finished second in the Omloop two years ago.

27 wins at age 22. I don't think you should give up on him just yet.
Of course I won't give up on him, he's too talented for that. But he hasn't many big wins currently, only Québec in 23 and the national championship in 24. Still no stage wins in grand tours and so far Omloop 23 is his only podium in the cobbled classics. I really hope he will have luck on his side for once the upcoming weeks and get some good results in races that matter the most.

He rode only 1 GT (and did fine) and 10 WT cobbled classics in his career btw. And if you look deeper into it, it just isn't that bad.

Gent Wevelgem 2022: 48th as a neopro
DDV 2022: crashed out
Omloop 2023: 2nd
Gent Wevelgem 2023: Very strong on first Kemmel, flat on plugstreets, impossible to come back
DDV 2023: 6th
Paris Roubaix 2023: 3 flats, one of them in Arenberg, and one 1km before the velodrome, otherwise he would've been sprinting for 15th place
Omloop 2024: 10th after being one of the strongest all day
E3 & GW 2024: horrible cause lyme
Omloop 2025: bad luck at a very bad moment in the race, but also not good enough imo.

It's hard to make progression when you're looking like Sep Vanmarcke 2.0 right now.

Anyways, people need to stop overhyping riders who do really good in smaller races as a neopro and have a few good results on a higher level. Especially in Belgium people tend to think they have found the new Boonen or Evenepoel whenever someone young shows high potential. It does not help them. People set possibly unrealistic expectations. Not just in Belgium tho. Even Ayuso has already gotten a lot of criticism cause he hasn't won a GT yet 3 years after his neo pro year. Which is BS too. Just stop thinking super good neoprofs are going to make a big step every year like it's still 2010. It doesn't work like that anymore.
