ASO de facto controlled Unipublic already, I doubt this will be a big change. The one thing that might happen is that they shorten the race to for example two weeks.

For me, the most important thing in future is that RCS stays fully independent from ASO. It would be disastrous on the medium and long term if ASO becomes the sole big organizer.

Quite happy with this as someone else already mentioned the Vuelta was miles behind the Tour and Giro in terms of professionalism. We now might get some decent pictures and parcours.

Pictures are usually provided by the TV stations of the country the race is in and not by the organizer (or the region in case of Basque and probably some other races). I don't really know if the stations record the pictures themselves or if they outsource it to a (cross-border) organization, but judging by the various types of graphics used, it seems to be pretty much a national affair.

Backed? Not sure what you mean here. IMG is a service organisation. RCS pays for the service.

That was also my first thought. In fact it might be an interesting experiment to do. It would still be a GT, but maybe with a somewhat different style, different contenders.

Of course, ASO owning RCS would be a disaster.
