At what point did cycling become "clean"?

Steroids for sure its a common side effect.

I ma sure its part of what the drug companies love about Low T treatment.

Not only is it vague and encompasses a large number of people, the treatment shuts down whatever steroid production is going on.

Once you are on it, its VERY hard to get off....
Most men who are on TRT were prescribed it because they have a hormonal deficiency condition that is irreversible. And apart its "feminising effects," Low T is known to contribute to conditions such as osteoporosis and coronary artery disease. Especially for sufferers of "late-onset hypogonadism" (LOH, which happens to all men who live long enough), TRT is a life-long commitment. It not only improves quality of life, it also prolongs it. In terms of consequences to health and physical well-being, the costs of remaining on it are much less dire than giving it up.

Drug companies love nothing more than to promote a drug for chronic illnesses that address none of the underlying causes. That's where the money is, and developing a steady pipeline of customers is their dream come true.

Most if not all cholesterol drugs act the same way. Once you get off them, your cholesterol levels shoot right back up.

Low T is no longer the body's natural response to aging, bad diet and lack of exercise. Now it's a condition that can be controlled with medication.

People neither want to grow old gracefully or take care of themselves properly. Not while science is out there making meds for them to keep on doing what they could in their late teens and early twenties.

People now have it in their heads that Low T is unnatural, and all they're doing by taking it is reversing a medical condition similar to the effects of Viagra. Gee, you smoke, drink, sniff coke like a maniac at those Wall Street parties and have three martini lunches every day with your equally bloated buddies. Why do I feel so rundown? Must be my T levels!!!

Good news!

Liggert says cycling is cleans! Di Luca is crazy and Rogers is a victim of circumstances.

“The sport has already moved on,” he said.

“The kids that are coming through are not like the old guard where, quite clearly, they were virtually all

taking drugs, which was a level playing field in their minds.

“I think that’s gone.

“There will always be a speedy motorist, and there will always be a drug taker, but you will get caught.”

Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre-Merida) will be working closely with former rider Michele Bartoli, as he looks to improve on his sixth place at last year's Giro d'Italia.

“From Bartoli's help and experience, I have already benefited in the last season,” Niemiec wrote on his blog. “I used his help over the past year, but not to the extent that I will be doing this season. Now we want even more targeted and work together. I hope it bears fruit.”

Seems like its on this year. Everyone is getting extra "help"

Also remember Bassos quote about there being something in the air this year.

That's certainly how it seems to a clinic mind, not just Basso, Niemiec, but Gilbert saying he thinks he can be 2011 level  Froome saying he will go faster:cool:

But we'll have to wait and see.

He worked miracles with Betancur... well for half a season at least. Niemiec was definitely better in 2013, though he's always looked like he had that in him.

Bartoli is still Betancur's coach, and he is with Lampre since last year i think, so Niemiec should have worked with him already.

Worried they may soon be able to detect whatever it is he and Valverde were using?

Or the Sky juice is finally in the wild - but only for the top guys who can afford to purchase the info, and only if they do not compete against Sky for the Tour de France.
</conspiracy theory>

Why only those two? Nibbles also seemed to be strong all season. I can't see why he shouldn't be on something similar.

Yeh of course there are more, but none did it so blatantly as their Tour-Vuelta-Worlds-Lombardia 15 week megapeak which you would have considered not possible since 1998. It would seem easier to do it March through July across T-A/P-N-Ardennes-Romandie-Dauphine/Suisse-Tour where the racing blocks are only one week long with plenty of time to spend "training" and "recovering" in between.

True, but Froomey's Feb-July peak was a pretty strong contender too.

Wonder if it's him or Cecchini?
The Norwegian continental rider Vegard Robinson Bugge had initially agreed to be trained by Bartoli last year, but the Norwegian Cycling Federation refused him to do so due to Bartoli's doping links. That was probably wise, I'm not exactly sure what Bartoli is providing his riders with but I don't think it's just training plans...

I think Betancur might be this year's Santambrogio. His face is already bloated from too much HGH. Such a shame that a young, talented rider like him felt the need to take short cuts. The interview with him last year, when he revealed that he had started working with Bartoli and suddenly became ridiculously good, was just sad.

Maybe contacts. And suppliers.

I thought it was corticosteroid that gave the bloating face.

Betancur came up with aqua and sapone, back when lolzeli was doing what is now only the second most ridiculous late career climbing form from an old man.

How you gonna stop a young kid from provincial antioquia, with no other opportunities in life, who enters a team like that, from going down that path.

The game is the game.
