Fantastic for Ben. I am unsure he is WT level, but at least a few races at PCT level will help him improve.

Ben Dyball is good enough to be racing at PCT level, no star but he's a capable rider who can climb and has lacked the opportunities in Australia to show it. here's hoping he grabs his chance this time around

It was divided into two parts mature men who are riding at the CT level/ Women young and old and the second part was young Aussie Men - The mature men covered CT riders from the NRS and mainly covered Isowhey Wellness Squad - Lane was brutal in his assessments and discussed in detail how individual riders could fit into a WT squad - The two riders he thought could make a WT team were the two oldest riders being Sean Lake and Scott Sunderland though age is against them - Women riders was all about Lucy Kennedy who will be in the WT peleton in 2018 - Shannon Malseed should make it to WT level in another two or three years - No surprises with the young Aussie riders - Expects Hamilton, Hindley, Storer, Stannard to make it to the WT level - Reading between the lines he seems most excited about Storer who he claims is still over-weight - I actually liken Storer to a young Richie Porte - He has queries on Jenner and Sweeney - Thinks D.Sutherland is coming from a long way back but is a chance if he is serious about his cycling - He's thinks Rice who rides for Axeon Hagens Berman is flying under the radar and can make WT - Doesn't rate Dyball to reach WT and has queries on Cyrus Monk.

Would tend to agree with his view re NRS riders and their prospects. Dyball .... that boat has well and truly sailed

Not sure R.Porte is a particularly flattering parallel. One can only hope that young Storer is significantly better equipped between his ears than Froomey's one time bestie.

Agree fully re Jenner, haven't seen enough of Sweeney to comment. Rice ..... interesting but very limited opportunities to really set out his stall in front of the WT teams. He's going to need to make some decisions in the next couple of years. Monk ... has an trainee opening at Cannondale but think the odds are fairly much against him being getting anything longer term

Lake is an ex rower - Think he's been riding at CT level for three years - Has a big engine and did tests for Quick Step in 2016 - He's definitely good enough for PCT level.

They are indeed excellent palmares for the rider that Porte actually IS. Regrettably, his ambitions (so fervently bolstered by certain AUS media) range to a level significantly above that ..... and that is where he has shown his significant limitations on repeated occaisions.

One hopes he can be remembered and respected for being the former ..... rather than be remembered more for "falling short" of what he aspired to be.

For all of the talk about media hype about Porte, in the mainstream media it's still fairly moderate compared to the Evans years but then Evans had the pedigree while Porte is still looking for a podium. Be interesting to see what happens to Porte's descending style now. Will he still struggle to stay with his rivals on the technical descents or sit off the back a little like he did in the Dauphine and take a more conservative approach.

I don't really get dirkprovin's fixation on 'media hype' of certain australian riders. What do you expect? Ewan wins a few stages at the TDU every year, they need an australian rider of some sort to promote then event. It's not like he gets much 'hype' for the other 11 months of the year. Porte is the only australian who's looked capable of contending for a GT since cadel, so of course he's going to get coverage despite his obvious deficiencies.
