How was Gerrans going to lose? They'd have preferred a luckbox shootout in the break?

Clarke and Durbridge had their chance to go solo but weren't good enough, as a result the team resorts to plan A. The exact same thing would have happened last year if Durbridge didn't drop Sulzberger.

The fact that Clarke and Durbo could have rode away and been a certainty to win. Porte and Evans had the potential to ride away from Gerrans. Easy to say in hindsight that OGE's tactics were good.

Even Evans thought OGE chasing was odd.

But they decided not to, let themselves be caught and dropped.

If that's how motivated they were then no wonder the team didn't have faith in them.

the GE riders in the front group obviously weakened towards the end, good to see Bobridge in fifth place only 23 seconds behind

OMG! SBS go to an ad break on the second last climb! ****wits

I was so annoyed :(

Overall a good race, the breakaway was exciting- the top 4 all rode very well and it was nice to see Bobridge and O'Brien ride well.

Congrats to Gerrans :D

Seriously how good was that ? Short of Marianne Voss in the worlds road race European cycling is cr@p ! And let's not mention the joke that the Americas put forward as an event. Australian cycling is it, full stop.

A quote from the finish in Buninyong broad cast on SBS:

"Well here's the deal. Australian cycling the best there is - plain and simple.I mean, we wake up in the morning and we p1ss excellence. You know, nobody can hang with our stuff. We're just a--just a big, hairy, winning machine. "If you ain't first, you're last!" You know? You know what I mean?"

They both ended up pulling for Gerrans once they rejoined the peleton.

Both Clarkes and Hansen were beasts in the break.

More a reason to remove power meters and radios from racing.

Nothing to do with nationally. Most national titles are raced similar.

The only guy that raced today who could beat Gerrans is on his team. Simon Clarke was very impressive. Took on Hansen, Von Hoff, Will Clarke and the Sulzbergers by himself and nearly got away.

Von Hoff and Hansen was too strong. If Clarke and Durbo brought von Hoff to the line it was all over. Correct call, it showed with Durbridge giving an extra half lap on the front when he came back.

thanks, but stream informs 'content currently unavailable'.
Why would they geo restrict this? It's not like any other countries' networks are bidding for the rights to broadcast this.

Sounds like a good race. Good results for Meyer and Bobridge as well, the latter is a bit surprising actually.

Did Evans do much during the race (I didn't see it)? Cause in the finale he only raced for 2nd. Richie Porte gave it a good shot though

Porte knew the two were both faster in sprint than him - hence he was trying to break, his only chance to win.

Evans tad slower, but on a good day could beat Gerranns once in a while, obviously didn't happen but better shot than Porte with that tactic.

Ah, couldn't remember if he had beaten him before, thanks
