6 in the group, HH and Ewan the sprinters. Ewan attacked on an earlier climb and used some petrol, HH sat on his wheel and sprinted past to win by a bike length.

Sweet. HH Knows how to be there at the business end of a long hard race. Can you tell us how? Small group sprint?

Dropped on the climb, came back on the descent to a small group, few attacks near the finish. Ewan opened up int he sprint and Haussler came over the top.

It was much more interesting to watch than I thought it would be because Ewan actually put in a strong attack. I thought he would just sit back, but I've happily been proven wrong.

Wise old head beats gifted young legs.....happens a lot!

Great to see Haussler take a quality win. But good signs that Ewan could be in the finale of such a long hilly circuit. All the sprinters winge about it being a hill climbers parcours.......1 & 2 beg to differ.

Agree, yet that attack may have cost him the race. Strange tactical choice.

Sums up my thoughts. Ewan's lack of experience and inability to sustain top speed cost him the win but it does point towards him winning on this course in future years. Maybe some classics down the track.

Smart and strong ride by Haussler and it IS nice to see him pick up such a win as he is a quality rider. Drapac had numbers for much of the race but their quality was insufficient. Impressive rides by Bobridge and Flakemore and hats off to Hepburn over the last couple of laps.

Think everyone is happy with that.

Ewan will struggle to win races this year I think. As Beijing showed, his finishing speed just isn't enough to make him a first tier sprinter and now in the pros he will not have the advantage of being far less tired than everyone else. At the moment he's just a Matthews with five fewer seasons in his legs. That's not to say he will not be highly competitive on numerous occasions.

Ewan will struggle this year, yeah. But can't wait until 2017 beyond.

Stoked for Haussler. Hopefully this is his year that things get back on track with him.
