Their TdF selection of course is still a side show compared to everything the team had to go through with the death of Gino.

I guess they decided to bring Haig along to have support there for Landa and Bilbao. I'm surprised they decided to bring a sprint duo of Bauhaus-Arndt as Bauhaus is not a top 10 sprinter. But hehas one here and there + some good WT results so probably like most teams they are not getting all-in in one category but go all over the place with Sprint, Stage hunting (Mohoric, Wright, Bilbao?) and GC (landa, Bilbao?)

Haig as already 53 race days. I don't think it's a good idea for him to go to the Tour despite being 5th at Dauphine. I hope he doesn't burn out.

Bringing Haig seems to be a reflex to him being strong at the Dauphine but how often do riders go for GC at the Giro, ride Dauphine and have a strong TDF. I can't remember anybody doing that previously. Maybe he replaced Mader as well but surely there was another option. Also that will mean he won't get the chance to get a bad luck free run at GC this season just like last year and arguably the year before that as well.

Just signed a very important sponsor deal!

Any team must have an official coffee partner. :coffee:

Santi Bitrago and Lenny martinez will be the captains for the Tour de France in 2025

Antonio 'the sniper' Tiberi will captain the giro, with pello Bilbao riding in support
Bahrain have some very interesting riders to follow in 2025, Tiberi and Martinez in particular.
I'm very curious to see if Tiberi can take another step, and perhaps also perform in one-day races where I think he has some potential.
Martinez I don't really see as a GC-rider (at least not yet), so it'll be interesting to see if he can live up the the trust Bahrain put in him, as I'm sure they want him to perform in GC's already. Some of the Italian autumn classics should fit him like a glove, so hopefully he does those.

A well oiled machine.

British cyclist Finlay Pickering took a 200km taxi ride and arrived without his luggage following a flight delay to accept a late call-up for his first Vuelta a Espana.

The 22-year-old was called upon to replace injured Bahrain Victorious team-mate Damiano Caruso less than 24 hours before the start of Saturday's opening stage.

Pickering, only able to take the call after being late to head out on a training ride, travelled in a taxi from Andorra to Toulouse before flying to Turin.

A delay meant he arrived at the race with only the contents of his hand luggage - although fortunately that included his shoes.

It was far from ideal preparation for the Yorkshireman's first stage at a Grand Tour race, but he managed to finish stage one in 153rd place.

"It was actually really lucky. I had a problem with a pair of training wheels and they were in a bike shop so I was a bit late going out training," Pickering explained.

"I was on the way to pick them up when I got a call from management saying: How quickly can I be in an airport?

"The first flight was delayed, so I didn't get my suitcase. But at least I managed to pack two pairs of shoes [in my hand luggage] so I can start.

"I've got a set of boxers, a set of socks, and the team are really good at looking after me, so no stress."

He added, speaking before starting the Vuelta: "I'm pretty ready. I'm a bike rider and this is a bike race, after all - even if it's a pretty big one."

Belgium's Jasper Philipsen won the first red jersey of this year's Vuelta a Espana after taking victory on the opening stage in a sprint finish.

I am always surprised how amateurish these kind of things are handled in this "professional" sport. You would assume that there would be designated first and second replacement riders with foolproof travel plans and equipment (shoes!) ready.
But no, the guy goes out for a late training ride without a phone...

Why on Earth would one assume that?

They can't have riders on standby all the time in the event that people slip on the hotel floor.

Because the team is paid to show up with 8 riders. Having a plan "B" for whatever sh#t may happen is part of being a in professional environment.
Be ready. It's a pretty big bike race. Finlay at least got that right.
