Basso\Liquigas at the tour

But because Pellizotti wasn't there, he probably went further into the red in the Giro than he would have intended had Pellizotti been there and he been targeting the Tour.

Kreuziger is sort of an outsider because of not being Italian. He's pretty good though. 9th in the Tour and a podium at Paris-Nice don't happen by accident.

Ivan Basso

You may need to go back a bit.

Don't trust any riders who have banned for drug uses. They do not deserve a 2nd Chance.

Because they will be the same person as they are if they have taken the drugs.

so be aware there are a lot of things under the table.

Ivan Basso doesn't derserve the win. can't you see he's not in pain!

As you're new, please remember to confine doping posts to "The Clinic".

Correct! Plus he is leaving LG so they will not ride for him. He may have a better shot at the Tour next year riding for Lotto or Garmin

He explained that the Giro had been a hard race but success has galvanised him and made him believe he can now take on Alberto Contador at the Tour de France in July.

He beat Cuddles so he can beat AC right?? keep drinking that gigantic bottle of bubbly and maybe you can Ivan..

no people are wrong about Basso putting his eggs in one basket
before the giro he said he would support pelizoti in order to get full support at the tour
that would mean 90% ish of form at giro, when pellizotti pulled out he couldnt suddenly make his form excellent to win, it was to late therefore he will peak at the tour as with the original plan

Hmmm I can't remember that Basso said something like that. In his last interview just before the Giro he said that Liquigas is like a good football team with a couple of excellent players on the field, so Pellizotti and him are co-captains for Giro d'Italia... may the better man win... yadi yadi yada ( Actually just this time last year Pellizotti's proposal was that he would support Basso at TDF in order to get full support at the Giro )
All in all Basso is an Italian, Liquigas is an Italian team, Basso just won Giro d'Italia, ergo Basso is No 1 TDF option for Liquigas, period...

What? So just because someone has just won a Giro, and in the past this translates to not being competitive, means he should be higher up the pecking order than someone who is a) younger, and the team wiill want to keep hold of, and b) was top 10 last yuear and can do the same thjs year, whereas Basso *may* break the top 10, but likelihood is he won't due to Giro?

Kreuzeiger should be captain at the start, and by week 2 if basso is looking to be as strong as he did in the Giro, then yes, maybe move him up; it won't be until the first full mountains day that the decision could be made, and they could easily ride for both beforehand no problem.

I think comparing Basso and Kreuziger on GT is not serious.
Kreuziger has done so fare nothing to put him as leader (at GT) in Liquigas.

If Tour was one week race Kreuziger could be a leader but not at the tour.
Come on guys. You can not be serious to comparing basso and kreuziger.

The main thing is Pelizoti or Basso.

Well Pellizoti is suspended and may not start so lets exclude him.

If you compare Basso's results in the Tour at the same age to Kreuziger then Kreuziger is the man to back given Basso's thoughts about doping in 2005/6.

Didn't Liquigas say that there's no suspension on Pellizzotti as now and that they are gonna use him for the next races?

The ASO will probably threaten Liqui with exclusion if they enter Pellizotti, the same way as they did with Caisse last year when they wanted to enter Valverde and have him drop out after two weeks.

In non-ASO races it could be a different question. Particularly the ProTour races that are not part of the Historical Calendar, like Poland, Eneco and the Canadian one-day races. Liquigas have to enter a team there, they're bound by the agreements of the ProTour, and so it may be difficult to stop them bringing Pellizotti. Even though it would be mostly provocational since those races don't suit him.
