Scratches head wondering why some bother to watch cycling considering how it is all just crap :p

I enjoyed all 3 GTs but especially the Vuelta where a resurgent Froome kept it interesting until the final climb.

vuelta had the worst course but the best racing. The tour the opposite.

Dont remember anything from the giro tbh so it was probably pretty boring.

The Giro is the GT i will forget the first. No real tension for the maglia rosa. The abandon of Purito from my point of view pretty much put a curtain over that Giro. Apart from the great stage to Val Martello, not really memorable stages. The victory of Nairo was pretty much certain. Great things were the resurgance of Aru and the fact a lot of young riders showed themself on the biggest stage.

The Tour had only one fantastic stage. The stage to Arenberg was ofcourse poetric in every sense of the word. All the other stages were quite boring. The biggest downsides were of course the abandon of Froome and Contador. Perhaps the DNF of Froome was not horrible at first sight, but the crash of Alberto really ruined everything for me. Before that crash, the current situation had everything to be a classic: Contador who was 2 minutes back on a really strong Nibali. The question remains: could he do it, or not?

After that moment, everything was decided. The competition was to weak to challenge Nibali at all. The fight for green was (before the start) already decided. Only the mountains jersey was a pretty good fight. But mostly because Purito was nowhere near decent form. But on the other hand, Majka really was the animator in de mountains, and i'll give him credits for that.

Also nice to see the French delivering big time, with Pinot who showed he will be a big rider for the GT's. And of course JCP great surprise, but at the same time: A 38 year old who gets the podium of the worlds biggest race, while in fact he's perhaps not in the top-10 GT riders at the moment, makes me wonder how good this Tour was.

Vuelta

As always nice fight till the end. Just like the last years: short stages, waiting games till the last climb, but the action for 10-15 minutes is really intense and nice. I don't think it's bad at all. Because a rider like Nibali who really dominates the mountains and attacks from 8 km, i don't find that much more attractive.

The fact that Contador and Froome were present, adds to the excitement of this Vuelta. In the end it was disappointed that Froome was not at 100%, or at least not being able to really challenge Contador. Valverde, Purito and Aru did play their part too, with the latter one confirm his incredible talent by winning two stages.

So the Vuelta wins for me.

Seems a reasonable guess. If you don't think so, I guess you will expect Contador to dominate Froome in the mountains come the Tour in 2015, yes?

It's a completely UNREASONABLE guess based upon the facts. Froome was basically back training immediately after the tour. He timed his peak for the final week (based upon how he improved over the race). Contador was off the bike 15 days and then training to arrive at the Vuelta in decent shape. I'd say NEITHER was at their peak, but both were in the 90% range. I think saying that Froome is way off his peak is to imply that 2013 was a perfect example of Froome and Contador at 100% and it clearly was not the case.

I look forward to 2015 and yes I think we will see more of this in 2015 unless Froome learns some new tactics.

Sure there are great week long races and one day races. Why not just watch what you enjoy and discuss them?

It's not like people dislike GT's, no one is saying that. It's just that they were all crap this year. We watch because we look forward to a good race. :) Slowly loosing my faith in these races, though.

No problem I just dislike be surrounded by so much negativity. No problem I know how to use the Ignore feature :)

Tour lost all meaning once Contador left. Nibbles would have won it on a unicycle.

I liked the Giro but the result was never in doubt.

Vuelta was very exciting and went down to the wire pretty much. It wins easily

Froome isn't way off his form, you're deluded.

Froome had a better preparation for this Vuelta than Contador and still lost.

And yes, Contador can dominate Froome in the mountains if he is at 100%.

Vuelta was much better for many reasons:

- We could watch Alberto, Chris, Evans (3 Tour winners), Aru, Rodriguez, Valverde, Quintana (but only a bit), Sánchez, Barguil, etc. Maybe not at their best (Evans specially :D) but taking part of the race.

- The big battle between the best riders of the world: Contador and Froome.

- We didn't knew the result of it until the very end. Well at least it was more exciting than Tour and Giro.

- Farrapona and Ancares were really good stages.

- I think there was a beautiful scenary (specially the second part of the race).

I know people hate the design of Vuelta and I understand why. But nobody can have any doubts it has its own idisosyncracy and it works.

In fact, the last 3 or 4 years it has been chosen the best GT of the year and it's because of something, don't you think?.

The Vuelta sucked, the winner was ovious after stage 10. I like Nibali, but the Tour was a little bit boring, even if Valverde getting kicked of the podium and stage 5 was epic. I have to vote for the Giro, it wasn't an amazing race, but it was very exciting until stelviogate happened, + Aru being on the podium, Arredondo being awesome and Pirazzi winning a stage. I have to say that i'm biased because i'm italian, but for the first time since 2010 the Giro was the best GT, but it wasn't a great year for GT racing.

Fanboys think their favorite rider winning = best GT...

My favourite rider has won, that's true.

But Vuelta has been the best GT of the year. Maybe the level of Vuelta was not really big but come on", Giro and Tour have been really boring and Vuelta has had a few good moments. Tour had the pave stage (really good stage) but nothing else.
