Too bad the respondent's nationality isn't included with the vote. I'd bet a dollar Froome's votes are the most partisan.

That will show only the nations with most common sense. Froome is no1 in 2013 without any room for discussion (there is one because people can vote for anything, that's democracy for you :D), votes the other way are just fanboy votes.

No, just people capable of paying attention to more than one race each year...

In the past 15 years, 12 different riders won Milano-Sanremo (and that's counting this year's edition). Are you really saying that all of Tchmil, Bettini, Pozzato, Canc and Gerrans are sprinters?!?

From 1997 till now: Erik Zabel (4x), Mario Cipollini, Oscar Freire (3x), Cav, Goss, Petacchi and Ciolek. In total there have been 12 editions decided or won by a sprinter, in the last 17 editions.

And Pozzato won due to a smart attack in the final, but still it was a sprint from a large group. You can not deny that in the last 17 years, it was mostly a sprinters race. The last years however punchers are in the advantage, definitely more with the new route next year.

WTF? Tchmil couldn't sprint his way out of a wet paper bag. Cancellara isn't exactly a sprinter either and Gerrans usually needs the gradient to be over 5% before he's competitive

Tchmil wasn't a sprinter, but could place himself well in a sprint, so it's not as bad as you say.

17 years? I thought you said 15 years.

12 editions =/= 12 sprinters. (Freire is only one sprinter)

So who of Tchmil, Bettini, Pozzato, Canc and Gerrans is it who's a sprinter?

...

Fact is that of the last 12 winners of Milano-Sanremo 7 were sprinters (and that's generous as the likes of Zabel, Freire and Ciolek are far more than just sprinters) and 5 were non-sprinters.

If Freire wins 3 times, it was 3 times decided in a sprint, so that's no excuse from your side.

Al the names you say are no real sprinters, of course i know that. But the fact that 7/12 was a sprinter (thanks for your help;)), makes it a race were the sprinters do have a chance to win a big classic. With the new route is will be a totally different story.

Rui Costa because he has been performing consistently since the start of the season.
Froome did better up to the Tour but after it he was gone.
And the season is not over Rui Costa, he has good chance of taking overall at Beijing.
Well considering all the history with rainbow jersey riders maybe chances are not that good :p

So you agree that this claim is false?

A lot of the people voting for Froome is possibly english, but still I dont think Froomes big share of votes is inly due to british patriotism. It also reflects that he has a pretty good palmares this season, like it or not.

I dislike Sky, I dislike Froome but he just had the most impressive season.

#1 Chris Froome for accomplishing his seasons aim of taking the years biggest showcase, and doing it with victorious efforts during his prepping phase of the year.
#2 Joaquim Rodriguez for his victories throughout the year, and his amazing animation in any and all of the races he participated in. 3rd at the TdF, 4th at the Vuelta, Silver at the heart breaking World Championships, and taking the World Tour title. Consistency personified, of the highest level.
#3 Peter Sagan Simply a winner, high profile, Yes. Flashy, absolutely. Sometimes he made mistakes, but he took his second Green Jersey at the Tour de France, and he is young, and still learning!

He has three stage wins this year and one race win.

14th February: Green Mountain (stage win)
10th Marts: Chieti (stage win)

(huge gap without any wins)

13th September: Naranco (stage win)
6th October: Il Lombardia (race win)

Accept that there are people who like Jrod as a rider.

And the WT is a victory, or only if Nibbles wins it?

WT isn't a race victory, it's just a competition for most consistent rider of the season. No one seriously targets it as their main goal all season long.
