1 day classic type events (with legit Mountains):
1) Betancur: from last year
2) Henao: from last year
3) Uran: from previous years at Lombardia & Canadian races

1 day classic type events (rollers):
1) Uran, way ahead IMO than the others. Worlds, Olympics, etc..

I'd have Uran higher here. Top 5s in Olympics, Liège, Worlds, Quebec, and Lombardia twice. Of course he's' been riding in Europe longer so more time to get results.

Here is my opinion, based on WT results (my recollection, not statistically):

3 week Grand Tours:
1) Nairo: 2nd at TDF 2013, White jersey, Mountains jersey
2) Uran: 2nd at Giro 2013, White jersey Giro 2012, wore (but not won) white jersey in Giro 2011 & TDF), GT lead several times by team
3) Betancur: white jersey Giro 2013
4) Henao: Wore, but not won White jersey Giro 2012, GT lead at Vuelta by team

1-2 week stage races:
1) Nairo: by far, above the others, won Murcia, Basque, San Luis, etc...
2) Uran: podiums, but no wins
3) Betancur: probably going to at least podium Paris-Nice
4) Henao: podium, leader at Basque, but not won
5) Acevedo: Podiums & wins at multi-stage races in US
6) Arredondo: Podium & wins at multi-stage races in Asia

1 day classic type events (with legit Mountains):
1) Betancur: from last year
2) Henao: from last year
3) Uran: from previous years at Lombardia & Canadian races

1 day classic type events (rollers):

Overall:
1) Nairo
2) Uran
3) Betancur
4) Henao

Too early to call on:
Acevedo, Arredondo, Atapuma, even Duarte & Chavez

Arredondo is going to focus on the 1 day classics, he doesnt care for GCs and will focus on stages in Grand Tours: http://www.cyclingupdates.com/interview-julian-arredondo/

he has very good talent but trust me. when they ride in 4-72 alreayd all potential is made out in them. he's not a super talent like quintana. heiner parra for instance was more talented than chamorro but he now rides in caja rural who suck at developping talent

Ok, do you know when Chamorro wants to go to Europe? Does he already had any offers from European teams?

Parra did it already quite well in Algarve and France, but indeed, Caja Rural is not the best squad for a young rider to get better.

I don't know if theyt got offers. but salda got extra money and riders stay very loyal to him. so they want to stay because they make more money than for european team. in terms of loyalty quintana took movistar(lower money) offer over coldeportes because quintana wanted nothing to do with coldeportes as they "screwed" salda and salda doesn't like the project.

Thanks, interesting to read this kind of politics. I knew there were some kinds of stuggles between Salda and Coldeportes, but not all this.

Who is the most talented guy on 4-72 btw? I think Diego Ochoa got a nice future ahead of him.

diego ochoa at age 14 was already training like a madman with his famous dad el rapido ochoa every day from 5 in the morning. he also seems physically in early adulthood so to speak. however under salda he developped himself from an itt specialist into a sprinter. I don't think he will improve much or become a big rider. their best talents are probably the 1995 riders he got this year who dominated porvenir pretty much. hernand aguirre is probbaly the most rider to watch. osorio too

But if you look at how he finished in the Circuito de Gexto (5th), Leon (7th) and the fact he finished 23th at the toughest mountain stage in L'avenir, you can say he's a bit more than just a sprinter right?

Well, you had Forrero, who was just a sprinter;)

Curious to see what Ochoa can do in a race like Clasica or Amstel, but we'll have to wait at least a couple of years for that.

forero came from track. but in colombia you have pure sprinters but they can almost never become pro unless on track which happens. alzate, duque, forero, roldan are some examples and most fot hem can climb well too like roldan and duque

avila has amazing talent and is a natural climber, who on track improved upon every other assett of cycling. now all he needs to do is improve his climbing again and lose weight

But you think he will? Because last year he developed himself as a rather good sprinter, perhaps he thinks he's got some chances there.

no his plan was always to become a gc rider. after wc track he was to lose weight go "wiggins route" and see where he would go. last year in colorado he was also one of the better climbers. still riding in coldeportes is a big handicap but this winter he trained with the track team so he is actually in good form

Ah thx for the info. The way he climbed in San Luis and in Colorado indeed, let me think already he could do well on the climbs to.

So Avila is done with the track now? He will not go for Rio 2016?

they did horrible things to track cycling in the olympics. uci should threaten to cancel road cycling unless they take back all track disciplines. just look at how much bs numbers swimming has.
