Surprised no one has mentioned this yet: Philippe Gilbert to Lotto.

Cadel Evans to BMC.
Greg van Avermaet to BMC.
Lars Bak to Lotto-Belisol.
Cancellara to CSC.
Sylvain Chavanel to Quick-Step.

Nick Nuyens to Rabobank.
Juan Antonio Flecha to Rabobank.

Luis Leon Sanchez to Rabo, and basically every other transfer they make.
In terms of underperforming massively, yes, but somehow he's still bringing in roughly the same results as he was before (even if he's nowhere near as strong). So I would hardly call that one of the worst transfers.

Renshaw, however...now that was a bad one. Wonder how much money they wasted on him.

José Rujano from Selle Italia to Quick Step (or more or less anybody purchased by QS to be a GC man until this year)

José Rujano has always been inconsistent and crap in most teams with a few flashes of brilliance here and there.

Sorry, what? You'll have to remind me when Sanchez won Paris-Nice with Rabobank? Or was even competitive at all in the spring? Or finished top 10 at Le Tour and the Vuelta? Or won San Sebastian?

There were no flashes of brilliance at Quickstep.

Sucked equally hard at Unibet and Caisse d'Epargne though. With his flash of brilliance I was actually talking about the Giro last year, but now he's back to being average. So far at least...

I know, in South America he has been doing well in 2009-2010 and finally did well in Europe again in 2011, but now he's back to being average. Hope he gets his act back together because I want to see some attacks in this Giro and at least he has cojones to do that.

I read somewhere that he did a prologue or time trial in the Tour and produced 80000000 energy units or something. I think that was for QS.

This year he has won 4 races, which is about the norm for him at this point of the year. The main difference is that he longer has top 5 results from various stage races. But my point is that how bad he is now at Rabobank isn't really reflected in his results, as he's still bringing in pretty good results for the team and the expected number of victories. Even if he suddenly has forgotten how to climb and TT.

Rui Costa back to movistar after his being suspended for a couple months due to a contaminated food supplement.

He was leaving caisse because he wanted to race the ardennes and 1 week races instead of the cobbled classics like unzue wanted him to do and since he was out of contract when he got absolved in march he had to take probably the only WT offer he had riding most likely for minimum or nearly minimum wage.

Ended up being arguably the most successful rider on the team with a tour stage win, a win in Montreal and the overall of the vuelta a madrid and is still getting good results for the team this season being the best rider of the team in the ardennes.

I think the best one in recent years has been Cadels move to BMC.

Nuyens to Saxo Bank was also good.

Chavanel to OPQS good.

Kreuziger and Brajkovic to Astana good as they get the chance to be leaders.

One that i think will pay off in the future is Porte to Sky as well.

Edit: Forgot about Gerrans to GE- that has paid off really well.

Kreuziger's move was good for him, in that he gets a far better support team than he deserves, but for Astana, they are still something of a body without a head in GC.

I think Kiserlovski's move will prove to be an even better one in the long run, both for the team and for the rider

MiniPhinney to BMC.
Maybe not the best option but way better than being associated with RadioShmack

His first year was disappointing even with his Tour stage win. Thus far this season he seems to have adapted to the change of team/culture and is back on track. Winning should be the measuring stick and he's bringing in the victories for Rabobank.
