CN reported yesterday that his (Sanchez's) injury should not hinder him for the rest of his season goals.
I think he really wants Lombardia, after podiuming 3 times. Maybe he just uses the Vuelta for training?

He has got unfinished business at those 2. Second last year vuelta. Podium once before. Second last year Lombardy. Podium twice before. I sure hope he feels olympic gold makes up for that.

I presume that Menchov will have Larry ten Dam for company at the Vuelta?
He says he will be there, after his Swiss mishap.
Yes, and Larry wants to go for GC. I don't know what this means with regard to Menchov's GC plans.

Fränk said he would help his brother. I don't expect any of them being competitive either for the GC or stage hunting. Nibali may be the man.

Is Frank's primary goal always going to be to work for Andy? It would be better for us if he actually became a GC contender on his own team. I know--I'm dreaming...

Fränk already achieved self-fulfillment in the Tour of Switzerland :D

He's improved his ranking in each Vuelta he has competed in. SO the only placing he has left is 1st.
And I would sure hope he doesn't feel Olympic Gold makes up for it- its like a bad odorthat constantly follows him. His name is never mentioned without Olympic Champion either placed before it or after it.

Sastre to ride the Vuelta for Cervelo... Seems like a bad idea, how he fought pain and suffered every day in the Giro, and then slogged through the Tour.

The result will probably not even be that bad (I guess he could Top-10).... But seriously, this just seems like cruelty to a 35 year-old man. If this turns out to be true he'll have ridden 7 of the last 8 GTs.

7 of the last 8 GTs, yes, but what else? Even if he races three GTs this year, there will still be a bunch of guys who have raced more than him this year.

Christophe Brandt and Olivier Kaisen raced more than 16 000 kms last year.

With all due respect to Brandt and Kaisen... I don't think those 16 000 kms were quite as intensive as the way Sastre races his GTS.

Rasmussen has a couple of opportunities to get in the Vuelta (according to velonews). Might be interesting to see what he does, as he has been looking for a chance to prove something.

Whats wrong with being called the olympic champion. If he hadnt won it he would be like joaquim rodriguez, arroyo etc, just another spanish gc contedner after contador sastre, valverde, perreiro.

Instead he is the olympic champion;)
besides judging by the gold helmet and gold handlebars i think he likes it;)

Will Basso take part?

And whats up with Ricco?

No way Basso races all three GT's, and we keep hearing that Ricco will join QS and race, but nothing official yet. (I'm really not an expert on rumors though)
