I don't want to discuss that here (see the corona thread in the off topic section), but however you look at it, that is very liberal. Cancelling an open-air event where no public was supposed to gather en masse anyway, but not mandating face masks for waiters (for instance), is not very coherent in my opinion.

It's fully pathetic. Ever since June it felt as if Covid-19 was officially canceled in the Netherlands. They did not even enforce the masks mandatory which in Germany apparently worked better than expected to lower the infection rate. Now the Netherlands have a higher New infection rate than most other European countries and the politic goes into complete panic mode. They're about to shut down the Horeca for a second time I heard yesterday, but still no masks mandatory.

Actionism as it's finest. Time to say goodbye for Mr. Rutte it seems...

My observations lead me to different conclusion. Lot of people think if they have a mask they are somehow invincible and can do whatever they want. In the summer I had feeling that everybody act normal but only difference was wear a facemask (inside). But we had practically nonexistent first wave here so people here underestimate virus significantly.

Yeah, we had a rather strict lockdown and shopping restrictions for months, and after that, when the numbers dropped to near zero, people really got ahead of themselves and now numbers have been going up significantly. That's why i come to that conclusion (at least in Belgium), looking at people's behavior.

Yeah obviously different situation. In Slovakia there were strict restrictions too and really early so we had about 1000 active cases in peak and 28 deaths most of it from one homecare. Now we have 500+ new cases daily but people still pretend it is nothing because nothing happend in spring. I am really curious about next weeks.

Same in Ireland but the difference now is most of the 2nd wave cases are younger people with mild symptoms and we have much fewer in ICU or deaths
