BMC in disarray?

any news about the team?

the company is called Continuun Sports LLC and it could be totally changed (or folded) next year.
my questions are:
was Andy Rihs owner of Continuum Sports LLC?
the team is not even sure they will race with BMC bikes next year?
Ochowiz seemed optimistic in his interviews last month, maybe he knows something we dont?

There must be some doubts or Richie Porte would not have admitted to the media that if a new sponsor isn't found by the end of May he will be fielding other offers. He had it written into his contract. The fact that the youth squad was wound up a while back was not a good sign. The budget was already an issue then. Porte, Caruso, Dennis and GVA would find a new team but some of the others might struggle.

I'd expect 2/3 of the team to find a new team - Don't forget riders like Teuns, Drucker, Kung, De Marchi, TVG, Scotson, Bettiol, Roche, Roelandts etc.

The younger guys that already have some results yes you are right but some of the older guys might struggle. Times have changed in the past few years. Even riders that have had good results previously but not for a long time can struggle to find a new team or they end up in one of the much smaller teams. Roche has proved to be a good domestique so for him it's an easier placement than someone like Tejay. Maybe they do have a sponsor and are just waiting to announce it.

Also aren't most of the riders on that team on 1 year contracts?

The problem many are going to have is that there aren't exactly a lot of openings out there. We've had 2 teams fold 2 years ago. As for who does and who doesn't find rides it's going to be heavily dependent on which teams are looking AND what those teams are looking for. Also agree that someone like Roche who has a solid back ground as a very good domestique will have an easier time finding a ride than many others.

Smaller teams and issues re BMC mean alot of good riders could be retiring earlier than planned I'd say

I know UAE are wanting to build the best team so they will be after GVA , Porte and probably a few super doms like Caruso & Roche
Teuns will have no trouble and neither will Dennis
TeJay will find it tough if looking for a staring role

And I read somewhere that Cervélo was interested in sponsoring Sunweb. So Dimension Data will ride BMC next year?

I dont think it´s a swap of bike sponsor. now that Andy Rihs is dead, his family (or BMC_factory co-owners) might not be interested in supplying bikes to an expensive pro team

They might be interested in supplying the bikes but not in bankrolling the team.

This sounds more likely. Being the bike sponsor is usually a good investment, title sponsor, probably less so.

Heard the same about Sunweb on Cervélo.
DD might be in trouble?[/quote]
Cervelo are big enough to sponsor two teams. Also, Giant won’t want to be without a top tier team on their bikes. Even if neither sponsor Di Data there’s still Felt, Focus, Wilier, Look, Time etc who would happily step up.
