ACF's worst nightmare has come to pass.
BMC have confirmed that both riders are suspended with immediate effect, pending investigations into their alledged involvement in 'shady goings on', dating back a couple of years, when they were both with Lampre.

Surely that should be "ACFs second worst nightmare"? ;)

But of course this investigation will go nowhere - its not like the old days (in 2006), we now have the Biological Passport, the sport is clean.

Interesting that baldato came over from lampre last year with Santambrogio and ballan as a ds and raced with lampre in 08. Is he involved?

Very happy actually mellow velo. I am all for clean cycling. Good move by bmc to indefinetly suspend them. They had to do it and i would not be right if they didn't.

EDIT: Just relised it was from 2 years ago when baldato was riding for lampre. Interesting...

Kindof sortof..... They didn't have to do it, how many from Lampre are 'inactive'?

John Lelangue probably spoke to his ex-colleagues in ASO - cut the 2 riders loose and your participation in the Tour is ok.

This is what happened in 2006 with T-Mobile, with the sponsors threatening to pull out because of Puerto Ullrich had to take one for the team while the rest went to Freiburg!

The good news is that a precedent has now been set by BMC - expect Lampre to fold.

Well at least it's not systematic doping - just a few bad apples.

I see Pietro Caucchioli is in there - he was one of the 'Famous Five' "caught" by the Biological Passport!

Repeat after me.... The Biological Passport works, The Biological Passport works!!

Patty M has been chanting that for the past 2 years!

After 06, I thought changes were going to come about. that has really worked out.
Ullrich met Kloden and Vino in Jan of 07, whilst training. He had been considering a comeback, because he thought changes had come about. It became evident from talking with his buddies, that nothing had changed. He felt it too risky, and retired. Three years later, I don't see how the sport has progressed one jot.

i do see your point but lots of cheats have been/are gradually being kicked out.

Frank Schleck, Alberto, Valverde, Cancellara, Basso is back, Vino is back, Rassmussen is back, Ricco is back, Lance is back - EXACTLY who is it that's gone? Kohl, and the only reason he was caught, is down to AFLD, and not the UCI. Even Stefan is due back this year.
