Brailsford steps down

Not sure if the mods want to move this into the sky thread....

Nothing or something what? My estimation is he's been relieved of BC duties to "focus."

The Brailsford magic stopped working this year. His GC contenders were supposed to be making WT races look like cafe runs with a visiting pro team stopping by to humiliate everyone for months at a time like the last two years.

Not sure what this is doing in the clinic.

It's seems a prudent move to open a thread about Brailsford in the Clinic. The content may not be Clinic-worthy yet, but it's a fair bet it soon will be!

Sky needs all hands on deck to deal with the return of uberBerto?

Either that or the track system is running smoothly enough without him.

exactly

when the most evil doper after Armstrong returns to his old habits you need to give him the proper attention.

It´s no fair bet if a bookmaker would give any odds... ;)

Considering he didn't even go to the Colombia worlds, I'd say this outcome is hardly a surprise.
So, if Sky do sink due to a major doping bust, he gets to go down with just the one ship.
He can't then return to BC, given his ZTP.:)

Aye exactly.

The British Public all think the track lot are clean and its just dirty Sky.

Smoothly perhaps, but not too quick for the men's TP...

I'm sure the "British Public" overwhelmingly think Sky are clean as well.
As I said before, I think the "British Public" think Sky is where they can watch the Premier League and The Simpsons.

Imo most people will have no idea who Chris Froome is and given he won the Tour...

A while ago I explicitly opened up two threads on the same story - a Clinic version and a non-Clinic one, knowing full well what would happen if I went only to the non-clinic version. Suggest that's probably a good idea for this a well - there'll be those who want to discuss this is just race/team terms, and then those who want to shout 'Brailsfraud' a lot. Both can be accomodated!

Except it's not. The GB track men's side is in tatters at the minute.

Sky seem to be having a few issues. Their leader distances himself from his BC role.

Hmmm yeh, not sure why its here either

I think it's genuinelly intereting news. But It's not IMMEDIATELY clinic worthy (soon will be, mind!)

I think most folk with any amount of awareness (*) will know that Sir Brad won the Tour. Therefore, as Sir Brad is a British sporting hero of the highest order, these folk will mainly think he and Sky are clean, or at the least think that the team that he "plays for" - even if they don't know the name - is clean.

(*) There are a lot of irredeemably unaware folk in the UK, though. Apparently several tens of percents of the population don't know that Tony Blair is the Prime Minister.

Interestingly on Radio 5 this morning when they covered this story the succeses of BC where mentioned including Froome (don't really think he really qualifies as a BC success though)

Didn't realise Blair was PM either, I thought it was still Harold Wilson

Again, I suspect if you talk about someone being clean most people will equate this to having a wash rather than anything to do with doping. Most people do not know or care about such things. Ask people in London about the next Monument and they will point you towards the train station. (I could go on but you get the idea...)

Cycling is similar to Wimbledon in England (and probably Britain). People are aware of it for a few weeks of the year and some of the names seem familiar but that is pretty much where it ends.

I don't think that I have ever met a person outside of a race club that knew much else other than the Tour.

That's a little bit of an overstatement, but for sure the endurance (TP) squad needs some work. Mainly as most of the 2012 winners are focusing on the road now. I think the young guns coming through will be just fine with a bit more time.

The sprint side should be OK being built around Jason Kenny, but he does need help and there is a lack of depth.

The womens and Paracycling squads are both looking strong.

As I said in the non-clinic thread 30 medals out of 142 for 2004-2012. Thats over 20% of Team GB's medals from cycling, mostly on the track.

He has done a phenomenal job over the years.
