I think it`s whats known as a "profesional fine"...ya know you`l get fined but the pay off makes it worth it.
Twas a typical disrespectfull act by GoldenBall and his crew.
Cipo did the same thing with regularity but he wasnt pretending to be a crussader of a worthy cause , didnt have the whole team do the same thing and had more class than to to try and hi jack the publicity from the Yellow jersey into Paris.
Pharmstrong has all the class of a Gerry Springer guest.:D
Cipo did it with style and in France that counts!

this is really laughable-not because of the fines, but really the time taken by ASO to finally implement it. Did they consult to them first-so their schedule wouldn't be disturbed by this matter? This off-season is going to be a long one for most people getting caught by the UCI disarray

The UCI and Trivialities

What a wasted investigation. Surely the UCI has more NB matters. You simply tell the RS guys to change back to their regular jerseys, which they did - end of story. Sure the race started a tad late - so what!

I know this is slightly off topic, but it's been mentioned by a couple of prior posters and was part of the Cyclingnews article on this issue, so I'm going to throw it out there.

Barredo was suspended from 1 January to 28 February for brawling with Rui Costa last year. I don't like two things about this. Firstly (and this applies to Bruyneel too), shouldn't suspensions mean something? He's been banned from competing in some minor early season races (plus the Tour Down Under but let's face it, there are much bigger races to come). Oh no! This suspension is meaningless. I know it's not the first time this sort of thing has been handed down (remember Di Luca and the Oil for Drugs scandal?), but I still don't agree with it. Secondly, the length of the suspension means that in the UCI's eyes, fighting equates with wearing unregistered kits and posting inappropriate messages. Really? Just in terms of publicity, surely Barredo did far more to lower cycling's reputation than Bruyneel and RadioShack? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not a huge fan of that setup. I'm just querying the message this sends.

as hfer07 said, why's this taken so long to be done??
okay, so it wasn't as though they could suspend JB and RS from the vuelta...

and TSF, that was funny as firetruck, and highly likely to be close to the truth

Notice how this UCI stunt in reaction to the RS stunt is announced just days after Lance's TDU finale is announced. Funny how this punishment is handed out to be served 6 months after the offense and not immediately...

... The two months should have been July 2011 and July 2012 though.

I had the same thought. I also, find it strange that his suspension begins after the Tour Down Under.

Suspended from what? Does the UCI know that there aren't really any cycling races in Feb. and March? Sort of like being suspended from high school in July I guess. The UCI should really start taking itself seriously.

after careful consideration of your comment, the organizers of Paris - Nice, Tirreno - Adriatico & Milano - Sanremo have decided to cancel these races for 2011.

Paris Nice - RS sporting director = GALLOPIN Alain

Criterium Interantional - RS sporting director = GALLOPIN Alain

tirreno-adriatico - RS not entered

Milan San Remo - RS sporting director = DEMOL Dirk

i think what the comment referred to was JB's participation in races in Feb/March

So next year if all teams turn up with unapproved jerseys you'd be happy about that too? What if those jerseys conflict with the major Tour sponsors who are fronting the money for the event? What if those jerseys start supporting controversial partisan issues or political groups? You'd be happy about that too?

Or should we just stay with the idea that the UCI has to approve all jerseys?

The Columbia jerseys last year were **** ugly, the UCI should fine high road for us having to watch George and the Manxman wear them last year!

What investigation? It was quite clear that they broke the rules twice: Once at the start of the stage and then on the podium at the Team award presentation.

So the rules are set in place to be simply ignored and not enforced?

I reckon roolz is roolz but.......

Whoopee. A team wasn't wearing an approved uniform and Brunyeel said some nasty things on twitter. I can think of better things for UCI to be investing it's time in.

actually I think what JB and Radioshack did WAS a big deal.

They deliberately undermined the ASO on its grand finale ...

Lance Armstrong is already a big name. He had already garnered an enormous amount of support, awareness and TV time over the entire TDF. To try and take the gloss of the winner at the finish smacks of egotism, unprofessionalism and complete and utter disrespect to the organisers of the race he had just used for his own purposes.

There are reasons why jersey's must be approved - and to say 'well I am Lance Armstrong so those rules dont apply to me' is displays a distinct lack of class.

The feeling in Paris that day except amongst the livestrong/mj brigade was the radioshack were acting like a-holes. When word started going around that they were late because of rs shenanigins there was a lot of anti rs talk going on.

Looking at your sig I hope you gave the Shack team car passengers and driver the finger in response..
I would of been tempted to bare my backside at them for what they did. A-holes is an understatement. :D

Couldn't agree more. To me, it showed a breathtaking disrespect and spoke volumes about him. I joined the 'haters' camp on that day when previously I'd just thought he was, in all likelihood, a doper with arrogance.

To be honest I was so shocked that I didnt respond with anything more than a gaping mouth thinking did they really just do that. As did eveybody around me. (this was post race as they where leaving paris, we were on the pavement as they went past on a corner)
