So has Froome though, and its been a while since Contador has shown alot in a TT. Froome since last years Vuelta has been very consistent and strong in the TT

I'm not saying he'll beat Froome but it's definitely not impossible though.

And of course it's been a while he's been out for 6 months

In the Giro and the Tour he rode a quite impressive TT.

Yes but it has been over a year since then, will he be just as good now as he was then? Or as good as Froome? I think he is capable of pulling out a good performance in the TT but I would rank Froome as the better TTer of the 2.
Froome had done f.ckall in TTs before the Vuelta last year, so I still won't say he's so much better than Contador. We'll see, I think Contador will at least be very close.

Its been a while since Contador raced a tt. He did, Eneco this year, 4th day back top 10, and a crap 1 in San Luis where he came 5th but before that it was 3rd in TDF and 3rd in Giro while celebrating the last k.

Doesn't look like consistent to me.

He was strong at Daupine and TDF and Olympics, when he peaked, but will he be able to maintain his peak in the Vuelta?

Not saying he won't, but if Froome starts fatiguing, which would be logical, Contador might beat him, not just on the MTF's, but also in the TT.

I'll rephrase what I said then, he has been consistent and strong in GT TT's the last couple years when in good form. And Froome does look to have good form at the moment, and he hasn't started to show fatigue yet.

Actually Froome had never really shown anything before the TT in the vuelta last year. It was only after that race that he really did something to make us take notice of him.

I'd agree it's not impossible, I don't think Contador will be too far back from Froome in the TT.

He hasn't rode a GT TT since the tour last year though

I reckon it will be close in the TT, maybe 20s or so, either way.

I think he will win by just over 2 minutes

In a flat TT Contador is pretty good but in a hilly TT i would say when he's 100 % he's one of the best maybe even the best depending on how tough the course is.

Look at tour '09 and this time the TT has an even longer climb, I think 10 km.

Another example is Giro '08 where he should have won the TT if it didn't rain.

I also doubt Froome will be 100 % so Contador should be able beat him.

Ever seen three week consistency by Purito? And 40 km TT to go. And Valverde is definitely going to play a role.

If I had started watching cycling this year I'd LOL at your comment on Purito based on his Giro :p

Valverde? I don't recall any decent TT over 40kms from him.

1 to 2 min, he knows he not only has to win it but needs to keep it marketable so as to not demoralize the other hopefuls like he has in the past :p

Only hope he gets enough wins to make the points competition an honest one as well as the mountains jersey, can't gift too much or they will not fear him
