Woah. Way to introduce yourself to the forum. BIG news if you are correct. It will be interesting to see how this transpires: Evans will have to get behind Lance for next year's TdF and give up any hopes for a GC spot in 2010. Evans is getting older in an increasingly younger man's sport, so having to wait for a decent shot in 2011 when he is 34 years old maybe pushing the limits. It would be good to see him target a different GT.

But with him leaving - IF it is true since he is still under contract and the rumour mill is in overdrive with the creation of a new team - Radioshack would have 4 big names (Amrstrong, Leipheimer, Evans, Kloeden) on the roster that could lead to an invite in lieu of a pro tour licence.

Like CTT this year with Sastre and Hushovd.

Well, I certainly hope that Evans didn't sign with Radioshack, for his sake! Too bad for Cadel if it is true...to go from GC contender to domestique for Mr. LA...because Mr. LA isn't going to work for anyone. Case in point is how VandeVelde responded to the question of Wiggins being ahead of him in the GC and if he would now work for Wiggins...he without hesitation said absolutely yes, he'd be happy too! Mr. LA...well, he took it all the way to the third week to admit to not being the team GC leader. What an ego!

Its unconfirmed and i have absolutely no faith in the Australian Media, i personally have not heard it , i think it would be a good move though, i think it would be a good move for him though as even though he will not be team leader ,riding in a good team is going to help is chances of a podium finish.

I personally think Cadel has had a big reality check this year and realises it might be best to Sacrifice being an outright team leader on a classics motivated team to going to a strong GC team where he would be a protected rider

It would be a terrible move for him! It would be just like the Giro for all the Astana riders, specifically Levi, having to sit up and wait for LA then pull him up the mountains because he is too old to make it. Why sacrifice an overall when he could be clearly the better rider, because LA is the "TEAM LEADER" and everyone has to work for him? When was the last time you saw LA work for someone on his team? Every time he is in the position, I always see him riding behind the real team leader, not pulling him.

Don't do it Cadel! Don't do it!

well LA did a lot of work for Levi at the giro, dropping back from a lead group to pull him up one of the climbs so he has done it.

I think one year he was lead out man at the Tour of Georgia for someone too

Of course the tour is different and I can't see LA being a super domestique at the Tour for anyone

The rumor came from cyclingfans.com (on Twitter) and they stressed is was unconfirmed - but that they did have an Australian source.

I don't understand why Cadel would be interested in this move? Unless....he has had it with being on a second rate team and thinks this would end his troubles??

If this were to happen, I don't see Cadel riding the Tour at all, instead finding himself the team leader for the Giro or the Vuelta; races he can actually win. Indeed it might actually promote SBS to show the Giro in full! This would be a step down for him, be on the face of it, Cadel simply is a step down from this level - and that's just the harsh reality.

Of course, the above is assuming this rumour is true - and quite frankly I would imagine that this is some juniors attempting at joining the dots without any knowledge at all, to the point where it is probably pure bull****. Still it is nice to dream.

It would end the troubles of not having a team around him (albeit, all of his teammates are excellent riders in their own right, but not on the par of other top teams), but would create other problems of having to ride with an ego that is bigger than everything. Even if I had the ability to ride like these guys, I wouldn't ride with LA for all the money in the world. Just couldn't deal with the ego or the complaining. I mean come on...to complain that Contador is attacking when he shouldn't be!!?? It's a race...if LA wants to be on the podium in Paris...get on top of the gear and start racing!

Only one aussie media outlet is reporting this rumours. Hyperlink: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25826914-2722,00.html

When I was living in Australia, I always believed that "The Australian" was one of the few reputable news outlets. However, after reading that article I guess I was wrong, as the only "evidence" they give of Cadel going to Radioshack is that he is going to announce something regarding his future on Sunday..... what a load of crap!

What are you talking about? He broke his collarbone and was in his first big race back. He was no where near top form and while his top form may not be good enough to win next year, I would be surprised if he does not come in 2nd place. Levi even admitted he was faster once in shape.

Cadel is-despite his personality- a fine rider with a couple promising years ahead of him-If he make the right choices
I think it would be a "desperate" move to leave S-L leadership just to become another LA mistress-money is not worth the aggravation

Or maybe, just maybe, these guys, who actually know the players, know more about it than we do.

I think Cadel will end up going to RS. From what I've read, he and LA have always been fairly decent friends in the peloton. At RS, he won't have to worry about the team focusing on sprinting, as I can't think of a single time when USPS, Disco, Astana, etc ever had a viable grand tour sprinter that they didn't let go or not support sufficiently. So, they'll be a team focused on Grand Tours, classics, and stage races. I think Cadel probably realizes that he won't win the Tour, ever. But, a team with Levi, Phinney, Lance, Horner, and probably a lot of other great riders could help him win a Giro or Vuelta, or maybe some other major races that he'd like to conquer before he's done.

It's not happening, why would you listen to australian radio especially when none of the radio channels even cover thetour that much. I know for a fact that evans is staying at Lotto next year because both Cadel and Mark Coucke have said he will be a co-leader with van den Broeck. It is a bad descision on Cadel's behalf, especially if he wants to win the tour next year. Silence lotto are an un-organised unit who can't even win any classics which they are suppose to specialise in and then have crap team trying to help Cadel win the tour. Cadel will look back on his tour and say that he could of won 2 tour de frances if he had a proper team support to limit the loses more and keep him out of the win.

I still dont see how Cadel fits in the old Postal, Disco and Astana mold.

Assuming Johan and Levi come with Lance.

Arent he and Levi essentially the same rider? Strong in every discipline with the exception of their inability to accelerate in the mountains.

No way! Cadel has always been overrated and even with the best team would/could never win the tour.

Yes way. Look if Cadel had some help chasing down Sastre he would of not lost 2:10 at Alpe d huez and effectively would of won the tour that year. Also with his bad crash on hte descent on the peyresuode which he was badly bruised all on one side.

In 2007 Alberto Contador and Levi leipheimer and Yaroslav Popovich were able to work as a three pronged attack against Cadel and so Alberto could launch attacks against Cadel and if he got brought AC back then Levi could attack or be there for Contador to give him a break. Multiple attacks from Contador was always going to be hard to get back if you have no help to work in numbers and chase.
