He would be better to do it on the weekend. It is hard for a lot of people to get to sucha parade.

It is rumoured that Evans will get the keys to the city.

So wondering, will Cadel's restraining order against you mean that you won't be able to attend the parade? :p

Touched down in Melbourne this morning to a media throng apparently http://bit.ly/qXTEQv. I actually arrived in Melbourne this morning at exactly the same time - domestic tho... fly out tonight so miss him tomorrow as well. Ah well, hope it's a good trip.

They are expecting bigger crowds for Cadel than what we had for Oprah in the city tommorow.

All the commercial networks are showing the parade live and quite a few radio stations are covering it.

You'll be able to watch it live on the cycling central site if you are overseas.

The way some people love to knock people who do well and the hate for cyclists never ceases to amaze me.

Reading the comments section of any newspaper site is an exercise in futility. The Herald Sun would be the worst of a very bad bunch no matter what the article was about.

As bad as 'The Clinic' on steroids and meth x 1,000.

I won't be able to view it live, will there be a replay of some sort?

It will be shown in a more condensed package on Cycling Central, it will be on their website and it will be all over the papers and news bulletins. Can't you record it in some form?

This photo is pretty typical of the ones I managed to get. Crowd was 5 deep on each side of the road in the riding section before Federation square. Fed square itself was packed.

Who are those riders in the red kits behind?

A bunch of junior riders who were selected from the competitors in the Victorian schools championships a couple of weeks ago.

They looked pretty chuffed :)

Crowd was huge and happy. Gerard Whately (local TV sports journalist who's been notably rude about cycling in the past) did a pretty good Q&A with Cadel.

I have been misinformed. I thought you guys all had zip ties on your helmets to protect against magpies. I was hoping to see yellow ones on Evans' helmet.

nah thats only a particular 'type' of Victorian bike rider. 'Real' riders don't do that
(although some carry a pump somewhere easy to grab for when the maggies attack)

pretty typical for Australian sporting tv really. Got a media outlet dedicated to a sport? Yep, so we are going to get the public commentary done by someone who is an expert in a completely different one.

I guess in some eyes they wouldn't get Tomolaris in because he is based in Sydney and therefore not a Melbournian...?

Its just impressive that they did the only thing worse than flying Phil Liggett in for the day. (and I only say that because Phil would then be a non-Australian commentating on an Australian event).
