I've not seen the footage in question, but in a sprint with bikes swinging from side to side at a great rate of knots, I can't imagine any worthwhile footage.
Nor from the handlebar view if the rider is in the bunch on someone's wheel - would just be a bunch of butts filling the screen...

Then you should definitely go check out the AToC footage. It was great - you NEVER get a feel for racing like this from watching regular coverage. The only times I've ever gotten action this close-up was either because I was in the race, or because I was watching from the sidelines and just happened to be at the exact spot a move was made.

I would love to see it used far more. Descending would be super. Even on a boring stage, it would be useful to get a feel for who's really doing the work in a break, or what the peloton is feeling like that day.

Just imagine - the spring classics - snow and ice and the peloton is miserable - and you get to see up close who is really hurting. Or going into the first section of cobbles and dealing with the traffic jam. Of course, the handlebar mount might get a tad too much vibration on the cobbles! :D

From the articles they all had to be downloaded after the race. I saw the Stage 1 sprint of Degankolb (sp?) from the lead out and his point of view. 2 cameras download and edit for TV. the pictures were wide angle and they are jittery for obvious reasons. you can just see Cavendish as the video ends

Actually, if you keep a close eye, you can spot Cav in the opening seconds as well. Just a brief glimpse, but enough to know he is there and ON THE MOVE!

Technology already exists to address that problem,
and I am sure 21st CENTURY FOX will improve on
it, my friend.

I stuck my camera on my bars for a section of pave when I rode it a couple of years ago - no giro or vibration dampening will prevent that shake!
