I was quite hyped for him after his great start of the season, but boy, the second part of the season was plain horrible. Even worse than Nys, who is several years younger and who actually won a few races early season, and who's now found his form once again. Mason on the other hand, has not. Of the youngsters breaking through this season, Ronhaar has been the most consistent by far.

That said, i do enjoy watching him when he's feeling good, and it's a good thing that this year we've started to see new faces (including Mason). Nieuwenhuis, Ronhaar, Mason, Nys have all turned into genuine contenders (in case the usual suspects aren't present). And that's a good thing for the sport.

So what has happened to him this year? No charges through the field in the second half hour any more...

He was just starting to improve until Saturday when he did not finish and was a non starter on Sunday.
Not sure if he is ill or suffered an injury.

He just seem to lack punch / anaerobic capacity. Nothing wrong with his technique and also quite good sustainable power but that extra on top of that isn't there.
