Well, he hung tough for three weeks just to get here.
I'll bet he will give it a good go.

A top five finish will say a lot about him. He made it over the mountains at his tender age to still get a good result.

He's starting 3rd
3 44 PHINNEY Taylor USA BMC 13.51'00"

There are many corners, thus I don't think he will win
Lots of corners is good for Phinney, but apparently the mountains have hurt the legs a little ;)

he lost 30 seconds by taking the wrong way, they said

That's usually the fault of no one to direct a corner....likely with his early start....no one in place yet?

yet it is the riders responsibility to know the course. If you are a TT specialist you should have memorised the course for days before you get out onto the start ramp.

Final answer:

16 Taylor Phinney (USA) BMC Racing Team 0:01:31

No.

well he was held up of course. And I think he lacked the motivation after that.
I think he could have done ok like top 3 or top 5 but certainly not win.

+1

I don't get all the whining about being led of course by a moto.
Was he going so hard he couldn't even think and just blindly follows the moto without question? Is that normal for TT specialists?
