Yep, lets all hate on Cavendish for winning, but celebrate the guy with a genuine track record of thuggish behaviour.

I hate Cav for taking out other cyclists because he crashes all the time?

Has nothing to do with him winning.

How many times has Cav wiped out a sprint?

I cant think of 2... that doesn't seem like a ton to me. Are there more I don't know about?

Not sprints alone, but also during races.

Ps: stage 1 Tour 2010 and TDU this year.

Dutch geo-restricted. How ironic.

This is all rather secondary; the main point is that I'm guessing Daryl Impey wouldn't find dutch fans wishing Bos could ruin some more careers particularly amusing.
Yes, very ironic  Anyway, I don't care for either of these guys. Cav just doesn't strike me as a particularly "clean" sprinter.

Well... be that as it may Cav's sprinting doesn't strike me as erratic as Allan Davis or Abdoujaparov, and not as deliberately pushing/shoving as McEwen in his prime or Bos.
I guess you can't see the video either, but it features Cav taking his hand off the barriers and nearly bringing down Rooijakkers, in full sprint preparation. It's deliberate, and very dangerous. It just didn't turn out as bad as the Bos situation.

You forgot the most obvious, Tour de Suisse last year.

I don't think Cav is a dirty sprinter or an erratic sprinter. But when you're used to being ahead by more than a bike length you can get careless with your control, cos you're not going to hit anyone. That means when you aren't on form, and people can get level with you, you'll hit them.

As was stated recently in a program about Cav he had three (3) crashes in the last 2 years and then the one at the TDU where he was taken out on that bend where the riders on the left slid across the road on gravel and took out the riders on the right including Cav & Goss. Both Sutton & Cav stated it was a normal racing incident.

Sky's neo-pro Alex Dowsett has said he is targeting the prologue. An outsider for the win certainly, but many were tipping Phinney, and Dowsett was always very close to Phinney in prologues last year

Double standards, just shut up. Oh wait, there's an ignore mode, thank god. *ignored*

I wouldn't rule out Travis Meyer or Jack Bobridge, what with their track backgrounds and all that. Of course there is always Spartacus...;)

But why are FDJ sending Sandy Casar to this race? I would have no idea what he would offer them in Qatar, wouldn't logic dictate that he would ride the Etoile de Bessèges instead?

This early in the season I wouldn't call anyone an outsider. If you have good form this early, you can overcome a deficit in outright quality.

at the end of the day, a lot of these races are simply to get some race days in the legs for these guys, therefore I assume it matters little to casar/fdj at this point of the season if the race suits him or not.

this.
the guys who rode the tdu and other races will have a bit of an advantage in this regard. Even someone like boom, who rode some cx and is decent at prologues could do well.

the distance should do well for a strong sprinter guy like boonen, if the form is there tho.

Apparently Downing will be leading the Sky effort as their go-to rider in the race. He might be up against it a bit against some of the quicker sprinters but being a dark horse and also having that low sprinting position which is good when its windy maybe he can grab a stage or 2.
