For those interested in talking about issues in Canadian cycling...

First, congrats to Ryder Hesjedal for another solid Tour (49th overall). Finishing two Tours is impressive, his effort in the TTT was remarkable, and he even made some highlights (albeit for a crash). I think Ryder will win the Monte Paschi Eroica in the next 2 or 3 years. Hoping to see Svein Tuft and Dominique Rollin in the Tour next year.

Second, does anyone know anything else about the Pro Tour races to held in Montreal and Quebec City next year? What's the route like? Where did the impetus for these come from?

Finally, does anyone who follows mountain biking know if Canada has any young cyclists who will burst onto the road scene and win the Tour (or finished second twice) in the next few years?

Salut. I agree that Ryder had a strong spring season and did a nice job for his team at le tour. It's been nice to watch his improvement since joining a stable team, hopefully we'll see him ride well for himself next spring. It was a shame not to see Michael Barry in le tour, he was a domestique extraordinaire at the Giro. That probably tired him out, and you can't second guess the team selection considering how well their train ran. Still, Barry would have been a nice resource for the TTT. No idea about our up and coming mtn talent who might cross over to skinny tires.

I'd forgotten about Michael Barry. He did a strong ride at the Olympics last year too (finished 9th, maybe 8th if Rebellin is stripped of silver). And Svein Tuft did a great ITT in Beijing, finishing 7th. So maybe we'll have a chance for the worlds this year.
