Cancellara leaving 2009 Tour of California?

Does anyone have any mail on why Cancellara had to leave Tour of California last year under a cloud?

I always assumed he jumped on the first plane back to Switzerland to have a tête-à-tête with Rumpf and McQuaid, on a hypothetical positive sanction.

He was outspoken about this time, on Stefan Schumacher, when Schumacher had gone positive to CERA in the 2008 Tour, a Tour incidentally when there was good mail, on all CSC and HighRoad being positive to CERA also. Hypocrite.

So, digging this up, anyone have any theories or mail on Cancellara?

His stated reason, stated over and over again, was that he was sick--fever, etc and couldn't continue in the bad weather. But I guess that's not enough for you, because you never let a little thing like a virus interfere with your ability do stage races, right?

I dunno, you may be onto something. Did his chain really break in the Ronde, or was it really a coverup for the fact that he flew to New York to get spanked by D*ck Pound for being a naughty boy? Or maybe had a Stonemasons meeting. Or had to fly to outer space.

He hardly "killed everyone" in the 2009 prologue.

In 2009 FC won the prologue by 1 second from Leipheimer.
Hincapie was at 3 seconds. Cavendish & even Armstrong were within 5 seconds.

In 2008, on a shorter course, FC was 4 seconds ahead of the second rider Wiggins. Leipheimer was 6 seconds back, Cav 8 and Hincapie 10.

I dont think you can win selective Protour stages and races, and if you do not wish to see the evidence I cant help. It is overwhelming.
