Indeed Cav's intention all along was to honour the world champion jersey.
By missing omloop he was fresher for KBK and therefore had the means to win.:D

It's still a boring WC though, we only see him in the last 200 meters.

I did not blame Cavendish for being a boring rider(on the road) if that's what you're thinking.
:confused:What were you saying then?
You were blaming him for being boring and not "honouring the jersey" well enough by the fact he isn't attacking and involved in the bulk of the race.

That Cavendish has a racing style I detest. But he's not talented enough to compete in the Ronde van Vlaanderen, Omloop, E3 Prijs Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold Race, FW, LBL, GdL, Strade Bianche, GC in stage races, etc so I don't expect him to light up a race by attacking.

Ahead of Italy? France? the Basque country?

Contentious.

You could have several good WC courses in Denmark. That was none of them.

Yes, Denmark loves cycling more than Italy and France(with exception of Giro/Tour). Baqsue country is well... Not a country, but a region.

This is the country who just lost its 2 most important one day races due to lack of funding and who's most important stage race is never going to be WT..
Don't think they can rival italy and france in terms of its endearment to cycling.
Indeed if the fans love it as much its on a much lower profile

so climbing ability is the sole determination that someone has talent?

someone better go tell Usain Bolt he's got no talent because he can't win marathons

1/5 of the population watched the Alpe'd Huez stage last year.

I don't think he means that you have to be able to win all of those.
He means you need to be able to win some of them.

So a worthy champion should be able to win Ronde, Roubaix OR LBL, AGR

Athletics is not comparable to cycling. A sprinter can win a hard race like the Ronde van Vlaanderen. A sprinter in athletics can't win a marathon... So the only conclusion is: Cav doesn't have a big enough engine for the hard and long one day races.

What do Roubaix, Vlaanderen, the Omloop and E3 Prijs Vlaanderen have to do with climbing by the way? Or stage races like the Ronde van België, Tour de Qatar, etc

Yeah, he should knacker himself riding loads of races he'll have no chance in. Forget all his ambitions for the year and win nothing. Then we can honour the Rainbow Jersey by having a thread entitled "does the World Champion's curse really exist?"

Of course he shouldn't do that, the point is: he can't.
