Gorka Izagirre is rapidly developing into a very good rider. I wonder whether he can keep this form up all spring.

But above all, it's nice to see Rojas break his curse. Last year he finished inside the top fifteen 52 times without winning a single race. Before this win he had already obtained nine top fifteen places this year (and another 33 in 2009, his only victory that year being a stage in the Tour de l'Ain). He's already one of the most consistent riders in the peloton, maybe this year he can also become a winner.

Makes you wonder why Gilbert went into a breakaway.

Probably just training, but still, he would've won :p

Nah, he can't outsprint Rojas or Ventoso.

I haven't seen the complete results yet but it looks like Movistar may have had the only sprinters left in the bunch. I'm guessing they saw that and plan was to let Fran to work for JJ today so he could pick up a win. Ventoso's been on great form this year, after all. Of course, this is all pure speculation as I didn't see it.

And add to that, Gilbert wasn't among the 40 strongest riders yesterday. So maybe he wouldn't even have made the front group today.

Rojas finally won a race again. He's been sprinting fairly well against good opponents the last couple of years but it was like 18 months since he won something.

Izagirre is a bit like Rojas as a rider in that he's more or less a sprinter, but he tends to be more competitive on those stages where the group will be reduced and the pure sprinters removed. Remember Rojas and Rui Costa taking the break apart in Suisse last year? Izagirre isn't really thought of as a sprinter at Euskaltel compared to Koldo Fernández. But then again Rojas may well find himself relegated to guiding Ventoso to the end of the flatter stages, but both are highly competitive in slightly bumpier ones that would drop the likes of Cavendish and Greipel - see Ventoso's win in Willunga.
