Oh well, we might get a nice fight for 4th place between Froomey, Valverde and Aru ;)

Yes you will hope so, hey Aru does get stronger as it goes on look at Tre Crem working for Nibali in 2013.

You're a fan. You want a feud. Just like they have in reality TV. That's normal. I like that too. But it's just not there.
Obviously at the Olympics, Spain's tactics of putting Valverde in a breakaway group was just out of spite and nothing about trying to win. About 20 countries seem to have a feud with GB.

1. How about Nibali? Uhm?
2. How about Valverde drilling at the front? Uhm?

Now of course Valverde was just joking when he told he felt insulted by Sky, he only said it for about a few million people.

Feuds really don't last that long, I also lost you at 'hopscotch'.

Except that this one seems to last surprisingly long... and well, I wonder when you comment on the Autobiography :)

Seriously, denying that Froome has made himself rather unpopular is amazing. Okay, perhaps Contador likes him as it's so easy to ridicule his fantasies :)

You don't think it was the weather effecting him nor his latest crash? If not either of the two why wouldn't his form improve?

Because he had to take time off the bike to recover after his Tour crash so needed to build his form up again. I believed, and it's just my opinion, that he would get stronger as the race went on. Thinking about the bigger picture he has probably been on a recovery since that bad fall in the Dauphine, he still hadn't recovered by the time he started the Tour ( hence the injuries could be seen when he crashed) and now he has had to recover again. I can't see him winning the Vuelta but I hope he can podium.

This isn't a post making excuses by the way, Contadors injury was much worse and now he is in a great position to win the race.

Like I said yesterday he won't win the Vuelta, even a podium is doubtful now although a long way to go of course.

Interview after the stage today:
'“I’m just over a minute off GC still with a lot of racing to come. I’m going to keep fighting as best I can every day. Going back, my goal coming into this Vuelta was to get a Grand Tour into my legs and finish the season in good form. I think all things considered I’m still on track for that. I’m going to take it one day at a time.”

Well,i'm shocked by his result today.I wasn't expecting such a disaster,i guess Froome is done for this Vuelta,no way back for him.**** this,i was hoping for a crazy battle with Contador, too bad i have to wait for another year.

I still hope he's not going the Wiggo way, maybe he's just having a year off.If not Wouter Poels will be the leader next year in Le Tour:D

I'm not writing him off, he still seems extremely motivated but he does need to learn how to stay on his bike. There's no way he can get back to top shape if he crashes every race.

I don't think this Vuelta crash was the problem, maybe he was not fully recovered or just doesn't have it this time.Maybe he'll surprise everybody and bounce back, but i wouldn't bet on it.

He just lost serious time in the TT. His stem-watching and head-bobbing was an indication of strength and, unless everyone else gets seriously fatigued he is now fighting for the podium; not the top step.

What's the point of him faffing about and falling further down the leader board? Clearly has no form at all. Why not just write it off as annus horribilis and make the best of it

Would love to see Sky focus on Nieve now, who will probably finish ahead of him anyway. Let Froome take it easy overall, but go bonkers on a couple of stages to really animate the race

He's certainly not been that strong in the mountains so far, although today's losses, whatever he says they may stem from, seems to be linked to the fact that every time we saw him going round a corner he was wobbling all over the place at about 5kph. If it was a boring flat straight TT I wonder how it would have been. Not that it matters of course, since it wasn't.

We'll see how he does tomorrow I suppose.

Froome blames going out way too quick for his poor performance:

http://www.cyclingquotes.com/news/froome_i_started_out_too_fast/ said:
I definitely started out too fast. For the first 15 minutes I felt fantastic and I think I chased it a little much. By the time I hit the climb I started to really feel the effort of the fast start and I paid the price for the rest of the time trial. I think anyone who races and knows that feeling of starting out too fast, and how hard it is to come back from being in the red, will know what I’m talking about. It’s a horrible feeling and I had to just try to hold on to it and finish the best I could.

I'm curious whether that's true, if only we had a time check after about 15 min.
