Ngl, I also get the feeling that Quintana is going to fade more than Froome from here
Normally, both should fade, but we haven't seen any indication of that whatsoever so I doubt it'll happen.
Everything we thought we knew about recovery and form turns out to be false, these days it's possible to go above 6 W/kg for 30 minutes with a GT in your legs :) I guess we'll see all GC contenders compete at the Giro in preparation for the Tour next year :p

What do you think about stage 19 which is the ITT?
I mean, are there any TT specialists who can beat Froome?
If not, a stage win there is also on the cards.

I think he will be too tired to win, in fact I think he will not be the best among the GC contenders, maybe even in his own team :p
Which GC contender can ride a better TT than a tired Froome?

Those are hardly renowned TTers. I suppose you may think König will beat Froome, but he'd have to fade a lot

The area where the ITT will take place is not flat at all. That´s good for any of the contenders...except Froome. It won´t be a MTT, but it won´t be easy and flat either.

Plus Froome didn´t performed great in TT in 2012 and 2014.

This year's TT is still flatter than previous years (except 2015). In 2012 he was the best of the GC guys, so it was still pretty good; in 2014 he was poor, but he was still getting into form. Realistically, if everyone is in top shape, only Contador out of the top ten can properly challenge him. König and Valverde can come close, but Valverde surely won't be in top shape by then (?). König has a chance being so fresh maybe.

This parcours is flatter than in previous years so I don't see anyone beating Froome (unless as I said he fades spectacularly)

Considering his current shape i think Froome is the favourite among the GC guys. But probably he won´t put as much time on Quintana as he would in a flat TT.

Froome is heavier than most of his GC competition which means his FTP is higher than Quintana, Valverde. He might have his threshold in excess of 50 watts over Quintana. In such a flat TT, its a huge advantage. Dont think anybody except Konig to challenge him.
If he fades then its a different story.
If we believe what he says and that he is riding himself into the race, he aint fading.
Are there any TT guys in the field?

If it would only be a matter of heavier = higher FTP, König wouldn't be able to beat Froome as he's 62kg (just like Valverde and Contador by the way)

That's because he isn't and will not be able to beat him, why would you even think that. He lost 2 minutes to Froome in the Olympic ITT.

I don't think he will, I was just showing the contradictions in silvergrenade's argument (Valverde and Quintana will lose lots of time because they are lighter; König is the only one who could beat Froome)

Yeah. My mistake.
I just felt that Konig would be as heavy as Froome but apparently he's not. Konig looks bigger than Contador though. Strange that they have the same weight.
Konig wont beat Froome in that case. People above 68 KGs have a shot. Below 68, highly unrealistic.

No worries, sometimes riders are surprisingly big/small :)

Luis Le is annother good trialist, but Froome is clealy the favourite, as always without Tony Martin and Cancellara.

with Contador out, at this point I hope that Froome can do the double. 18 years after Pantani would be something extraordinary

Exactly. The weight argument is absolute nonsense. 22 years ago, Rominger smashed Indurain's hour record, despite being 15kg lighter. Way more factors go into TTing than just weight.

I don't think there is any point in believing listed weights. Or is there anyone who really believes that they are actually right?

Nope. Like I always claim, cyclist lie as much about their weight as teenage girls. Just that cyclists make themselves 5 kilogram heavier instead of lighter to not appear too anorexic in public eye. Rasmussen ain't 59-60 kilograms even by now - he's 56.6 kilograms in fact - so in fact the rumored 55 kilograms weight at 1.74 meters height with 4% bodyfat during the Tour de France simply must've been the truth!

No more tempo riding. Guess he is feeling good and confident. Otherwise he would just make Konig set the tempo or set it himself.
Will see during ITT if his confidence is justified.
