Wow...it seems Froome hasn't been making friends on the team has he...no big surprise honestly. Besides Henao and Uran can't have been too impressed by his leadership at the Vuelta 2012 but they kept their mouth shut and didn't go showboating when he needed them.

If you were a British Corporation that sponsored a cycling team for publicity and you had two potential Grand Tour winners; one was born and raised down the street, a multiple Olympic medalist, including multiple gold medals, a multiple World Champion, a multiple National Champion, etc. In multiple disciplines of the sport with a compelling pulling himself up by the bootstraps story to boot, the other was a white guy from SA, a virtual nobody, having won virtually nothing.

Which cyclist would you pick to put you on the map?

The famous guy with the mod sideburns, or the whinging nobody who resented riding support in a sport that has a tradition of apprenticeship?

If I was Wiggins that would wind me up no end, knowing the number two in your team could have won two GTs but you earn the sponsors more money so they hold him back. It's the cycling equivalent of a woman getting the job over a better one because she had bigger tits.

He did so in Tour again, and this while knowing he possibly could have won the biggest race a rider can win. But he still worked for that **** that is Wiggins.

Uran has no GC ambitions of a Grand Tour win, so he can keep his mouth shut. ( no disrespect to him, I like him as a rider )

Froome is the rider of the moment in cycling, so I doubt he cares much. And basically all Tour squad ( Thomas, Porte, Kireynka, EBH, Stannard ) are very good friends with him so doesnt really matter there.

As a Brit I will say that I prefer the Colombians. The Brits are idiots and Henao and Uran deserve better than to be riding for them.

As webvan said, did you see either of the Colombians showboating when Froome was getting dropped at the Vuelta (or, to be fair, talking about how 'let's decide the leader in the race' when someone else has already been chosen)?

Froome did sacrifice himself in Vuelta 11 but nobody knew in advance of the race how he would suddenly turn into a climbing god. And mid race he was unshackled. It's easy to be wise with hindsight.

Froome will have to buy his own wheels at the Tour. And eat alone at dinner.

And lose half his team when Wiggins sets up his own team and takes everyone over 34 with him.

They're either not ambitious/brave enough to take away the leadership position or they're super hypocrite as they already have signed contracts elsewhere or they know that if Froome wins the Tour this year and Wiggins is done after the Giro they could as well stay as captains at Sky. In any case talk is cheap!

Even if Wiggins is not to weak, but just not in top shape at the Giro and will be able to be competitive at the Tour (Because he didn't gave everything like Mensjov in 2008): Froome will give him a large, painful **** for sure.

The difference between the Astana 09 debacle and what might happen with Sky this year is that Alberto Contador was the team leader until Armstrong decided to come out of retirement. From what I understand, Alberto even tried to get out of his contract but was assured that he didn't have anything to worry about. Armstrong, after taking a beating, spun it as we were going for a podium sweep and Alberto blew it. That, as we all know is rubbish, as Armstrong was only looking to win.

Anyway, on a different note, does anybody think that Sky is becoming too predictable? They're powerful, no doubt, and their strategy is effective, but will the predictably end up working against them?

If I was Sky I would have had Uran attack on the first climb. Forced Astana into a higher tempo eariler on then Sky should have drilled in on the final climb launching - ummm - wiggins. Well at least they would have maybe killed off Nibali and left Wiggins at tempo. Much better strategy.

Ironically- It was the very SKY's tempo that blew Wiggo up when his "marginal gains" & SRM computer crashed all together against that 20% incline
