King Boonen said:The dislike people seem to have for Froome, is that mainly because he rides for Sky?
He's an exciting rider who looks to get off the front and put the hurt on where he can. If he was riding for, say, Cannondale, would people like him more?
Miburo said:I actually like Froome but i'm not supporting for him since he usually rides against Contador and word goes i'm a fanboy (laflo-level) of him.
Froome made Wiggins look ridiculous in the tour last year, he will always have a place in my heart for doing that.
I wish he would have just dropped wiggins though but i can't blame him for listening to his employer

Miburo said:That's a good question. Wiggins was the leader beforehand.
Hinault wouldn't wait, Armstrong neither. Don't know roche well enough.
And Contador? Maybe i'm not sure. In tour 2009 he was the assigned leader although attacking on arcalis was not planned. Not sure about Contador really.

Afrank said:I like Froome to a certain degree. But there's no denying, his riding for Sky makes me like him less. Not only because I don't like Sky that much but also because at Sky he still uses the skytrain tactic for the most part. Which means he will only go away in the final Km's on MTF's and skytrain the rest of the climb. At another team I think he would be much more of a Contador-like rider/climber (more attacking, less sky-training up climbs). That would make me like him more.
IndianCyclist said:To go from point A to point B, if i can use a car then why would run unnecessary. He has the luxury of a train so logically he will use it. But he is not as talented as Contador. If he attacks like Contador then he will lose. Contandor is possibly the only person other than Purito who can make repeated strong attacks in the mountains. Even Purito doesn't make that many, he only responded to some of them in the Vuelta.
Afrank said:Contador is definitely more talented. But Froomes limitations (while they have become much clearer) are still somewhat unknown. And what he has done this year so far indicates that he may not need repeated strong attacks. His performances this year have been done most of the time with a single powerful attack. Contador will be attacking him and Sky in the Tour, so if Contador attacks in a vuelta 2012 style that should tell us if he can respond to repeated attacks.

The train makes sure Froome only produces one, but VERY big attack. He only needs one attack, as the train control other attackers quite well to a point.
It just depends how well the train will be going at the Tour, but I expect it will be strong.
