I really don't understand the people that hope he won't try the double.
Do you have money on Froome winning the Tour that you don't want him taking the risk? Do you work for Team Sky?
Seriously, why a cycling fan, any cycling fan, either supporting Froome or not, woundn't wish for a rider to attempt something epic like the double? If he fails, he fails, but as a fan I'm after entertainment.

PS: btw, I don't think he'll try.

It won't happen for the simple reason it means riding four consecutive GT's - See what happened to Quintana.

Quintana is nowhere near the physical and mental maturity of Froome. Froome also has the confidence and the know-how to plan back to back GTs and win them.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I want him to go for it. It would make both GTs more exciting. I very much doubt if he will though. There's too much money and prestige riding on a fifth Tour for him to take an unnecessary risk.

It's not back to back GT's - It's four consecutive GT's .

If you say so... :p

The logic is quite simple: I want Froome to win a 5th Tour de France; if he rides the Giro-Tour I believe he won't.

(Then, you could also get into the smaller details, such as this would mean Froome riding 4 consecutive GT's, his hatred of the extreme cold weather, his bad experiences with the Giro, etc.)

And if he wins the fifth Tour next year, there will be too much money and prestige riding on getting #6 the following year.

I agree with you that's probably what he (and/or Sky) are thinking, but imo it's ***. It's this Giro or never.

I think so too. Another thing will be how quickly Egan Bernal develops. I imagine that if Sky feels Bernal is good enough to possibly win the Giro but not the Tour then sending Froome to the Giro would be a very dumb thing to do when there's no NCYT on the line

Sending Bernal as the Giro leader would be a mistake IMO. Too young. I would give it at least another year.

Aru's plea for a Giro-Froome is a joke, coming from a nobody as of late. Eddy's more interesting: Froome is close to 5, too close. Giro-Tour would make a TdF win unlikely IMO. Forget the extra rest week. He would lose against a Tour-focused Dumoulin, and/or any serious contender with a solid TTT team. Porte or Pinot come to mind, if they focus on the Tour only. Of course that is if Porte can stay up-right and Pinot passes the first week unscathed. Week 3, he's strong. And how about Nibali? I think that he will lose time in the TTT. Movistar...watch out.

Eddy is trying to punk the Dawg...or just tell him what a true champion would do...it depends on how you look at it.

The Telegraaf are reporting a source within RCS has confirmed Froome will ride at the Giro.

Still rumour level territory but starting to look like it could happen. :)

"to be read in BBC style"

details about the agreement will be reported soon. The inclusion of Vegni's lost self-respect is not guaranteed

I guess that that's good news for Vegni. I still can't see him actually peaking for the Giro, the Tour will probably remain his main goal.

I would say that after Vegni remarks and this small details there is a 60% chance of Froome racing the Giro. The rumored route is that it isn't the most favourable for him.
Most Tours he's won havent favoured him.

He's the strongest versus the clock and arguably the strongest in the mountains. How can the Tours that he has won not have been favorable for him?

let´s say he rides the Giro.

what would he race before?

no Herald Sun.

Andalucia Feb 14-18 (or South Africa and debut at Tirreno)

Tirreno March 7-13

Tenerife

maybe Trentino or Romandie or even no racing

Giro

TDU

Andalucia

Tirreno

Romandie

Giro

Tour

Worlds

if he races TDU he will skip Andalucia for South Africa I guess
and TDU is too early, earlier than Herald Sun. he has to go on until the worlds. maybe too early starting in January?
