He’s not on the Coppa Bernochi startlist

Aka Froome is "no longer" on the startlist.

He was on it yesterday according to PCS but not anymore.

I'm so curious to see what happens with his contract situation. It appears like he's coming to the end of his initial 3 years but he has complete freedom to re-sign for a further optional two, no questions asked (based on all the little titbits of info we have here & there).

I'm not sure he's Sylvain Adams' favorite person right now.

He has already said that he intends to do the next 2 years. Nothing to be curious about.

The curiosity refers to just how brazen Froome will be if he triggers the contract extension.

He's a continental level rider & it looks delirious to be on a mega contract when he's struggling against the pros.

If he had any self respect he'd quit but I guess the money is too good. His boss will hate him for it though.

I thought you were talking about Sagan who's on the same wage as Froome

Sagan is retiring.

The comparison would be more apt if Sagan was unilaterally about to trigger an automatic extension of his contract with Total on the same money. But he isn't. He's quitting. Froome should also quit.

I mean I'm just here for the entertainment but I can't imagine how ridiculous Froome is going to look if he chooses to continue his career at Israel.

I hate Froome, but he would be a total idiot to quit.
Negotiating an exit for half the money he is owed might be the best way out for both

There is nothing rediculous about making a living doing what you are passionate about. Froome looked rediculous when he was talking in 2020-22 about coming back to the top level to win the 5th. Those days seem to have passed. It's cool that he keeps fighting for top 10 in mercantour classic and going for another tour de france start. Ok maybe his employers look a bit silly and maybe he's deluded, but I don't think it's ridiculos on his part to keep fighting to get the best out of himself post crash.

For me the situation of sagan is much more sad. And I was a much bigger fan of sagan in 2012-18 than froome. To see somebody retire young, after 2 years of looking miserable and not trying, because all their passion has disappear, is worse than froome who keeps fighting to make another tour.

Yeah watching Sagan tootling around the French countryside like he'd rather be anywhere else was brutal. Especially because he was healthy.

By the contrary I think he has the level to do a great Tour, but he need a team that want to put him on le Tour, or at least La Vuelta, becouse he is a rider for hot and 3 weeks races. Nice to see him racing again tomorrow. The team is strong with Hermans and Golstain, and Einhorn for the sprints, so maybe he has to work. Hope he has his freedom.

Sure, his team didn't "want to put him on le Tour". They're super glad they payed him millions and he's produced nothing. It's them holding HIM back.

Not delusional at all. Nope.

He was in situación to finish the best of the team on GC at le Tour ( looking for stages, not GC) just before to catch COVID...and he finished 3rd at Alp DHuez...Is that produced nothing. There wer 2 riders who get an stage that Tour, but after them he most Who most produce of the team that race, more than Woods or Fuglsang. Rest of the year, except Alpes Maritimes, I agree, but always working for the team...as he did today.

What year was that?

Today, Froome was back in action for Israel Premier Tech at China's Tour of Hainan.
He finished in the pack (93rd) on a flat 92.6km opening stage, losing no time to the winner.
However, just take a look at the competing teams in this race : Pingtan International Tourism Island Cycling Team; Roojai Online insurance; Li Ning Star; Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team; HRE Mazowsze Serce Polski; Ljubljana Gusto Santic.
Wow. How has it come to this?

Not a big level, but Sevilla, Duarte or Monsalve are there....Today is a better stage to measure his level, but he has to work anyway, I think for Taj Jones. Israel is with top riders, but the best result for them was Taj, 10..I dont know if something happens to Einharnd, he lost time and he was the main favourite for today stage.

You're the most understanding and adaptive fan in the world, going from claiming Froomey as the greatest species on earth to being happy seeing him racing in the same race with freaking Yonathan Monsalve (I had no idea he's back racing again, btw). You are sinking with him. Hats off to you for that, Brother. But he has added nothing significant to his sporting achievement for what, five years, man, nothing, let's not make out that he has.
