Of course it does not compare to a pro win, a goal he is still seeking entering what may be the final goal of his season, but Froome was able to raise his arms at the end of the Gran Fondo Sun Moon Lake at the end of the 104 mountainous kilometers.

Since there is no more money to lose
I think they'll let him do the last Tour just for nostalgia's sake
and milk some publicity.

I doubt he'll do any major races, at all. He said he wanted to retire after the Vuelta 2025 but come on let's be real, IPT aren't sending a 40 year old Froomey to the Vuelta in August.

He stayed on too long way past the point of no return whereby even 'functional' performance levels are a pipe dream. I bet the money was good though so he's still laughing all the way to the bank.

But it's certainly not a champion's exit.

i think it's actually a good idea, since the team has certainly got their promotion already , and beside that the team's roster this year is not going to accomplish much in the tour (it's mostly lot's of old guys and some young guys). they can actually agree to retire him after the TDF, and get available spot for someone else, that can still compete in races till the end of the year.

What promotion have they gotten? Or is that another word for “fleecing”?

Sounds like great PR. 'Our other guys aren't gonna do much anyway, so we thought why not bring this old overpaid guy who can't finish top 100 on a flat stage just because he really wants to ride'.

They were thinking of Froome promoting the team positively with his presence, not the team as a whole going to WT status.
No, I think it’s pretty obvious that aruipksni were talking about World Tour promotion and not promotion in the way of exposure. aruipksni also gave thumbs up on both posts you quoted, so I think you have misunderstood.

(The talk previosly was about publicity, but when aruipksni brought in promotion that is obviously about the WT)

its not just PR - the team will need to rebuild itself for 26-28 anyway. they can basically retire perhaps 5 riders from the team after TDF (froome, fuglsang, clarke, woods, bivian) and get some young riders instead (if Arkea will fold by the end of the year , they can grab some good young riders from there for example)

But they don't need to to give Froome a ride in the Tour to retire him.
They can give him 2024-like schedule and get more useful riders in the Tour squad.

It’s obvious that is what aruipksni is posting about, but that’s not who the two posters I quoted replied to. Why else would fleecing be used?

Those two posters you quoted answered the question “what kind of promotion have they gotten?” which was a question based on aruipsknis use of the word promotion...

I can guarantee you that the user Eddy Evenepoel replied to the question about WT promotion, so it’s pretty stupid to say he replied to something else. I think it’s also obvious that pastronef replied to the same question.

My English is not good enough to know what fleecing means.
