He's fine. Not greatest, but not the worst too. If it stays sunny as it mostly does in July in France, he will have no bother following best.

If it's rainy, then I guess it's going to be more complicated.

Sure, first wwabit asks you this.

And you replied with this.

you were asked where Froome was whining and you posted Michelle's words. Passing off her words as if they came from him.

I think you and I have a different definition of what 'passing off someone's words' means.

In that post I made reference to Cound's tweets, and her post on this forum (both fully attributed to her, and not Froome). I also made reference to the press statement, that very definitely (as I subsequently showed you) is Froome speaking in the first person. And I think I also referenced examples of 'sources close to Froome' (ie Froome) briefing journalists about his concerns*. I don't consider any of that to be passing off, hence my confusion at your accusation. We're just going to have to agree to differ on this.

Anyway, I can't help but think Froome's little hissy fit looks increasingly unnecessary given Wiggins efforts in the first week of the Giro. . .

(*Incidentally, if you're unsure what 'passing off' means, the convention of journalists quoting 'sources close to' or 'friends' of person x, actually is a true example of someone (the journalist) passing someone else's (person x) words as being as if they came from someone else).

You were asked where Froome was whining and you replied with an example of his girlfriend whining. So I don't see what your trying to say here, but whatever, I don't care that much anymore. I'll agree to disagree like you suggest.

BTW, I still fail to see the "hissy fit" you think Froome had. (Froome, not Cound)

Michelle Cound is a Director of Ingonyama Platinum Mining.

Has anyone ever looked into her and her company's involvement in the miner's strikes, the striker's shooting deaths and the murder of some of the union members or organizers?

Lazy, but curious

I don't understand your point at all;

Do you mean "Characters" like this guy?:

2012_usa_pro_challenge_stage4_peloton_antler_dude1.jpg

Or, do you mean "Bad Characters" like Danilo, Vino, Pantani, and allegedly, Froome?

My question was regarding Froome's girlfriend and her involvement with the Platinum mining industry.

just a joke. i don't know anything about her

but if you say that she's involved in the mining industry mob, then my first impression was true:

What is this about now?

Her Twitt(er) ramblings. In response to the question why, all she had to say was "articles, interviews, tweets, all of the above *lol*"

She may be mad about this interview, which may be a he little too frank for her:

Who knows. She certainly doesn't help Froome's cause by airing her opinions. She doesn't seem like a very nice person.

You would be p!ssed too if your boyfriend was screwed out of two GT wins because he was dragging the team's annointed one around the routes.

Maybe we should start a Michelle Cound thread?

It might interesting; she's definitely a pit bull.

I am genuinely curious as to who she really is. She's got a computer programing background, has worked in business intelligence (corporate espionage), her legal residence is Monaco (tax haven). She sits on the board of Ingonyama Platinum (Pty) Limited, a platinum mining business in South Africa. On some blog, I remember reading a post by someone that claimed to be her father and a cyclist himself.

Face value, she seems like a typical groupie or WAG, but maybe not.

Thanks, yes this is getting a bit out of hand...Froome would likely benefit from a more peaceful environment for the challenges at hand.

It might just be me,but it sounds to me, judging from the Walsh interview that they both have super fans. Wiggins and Walsh vs Froome and Cound.
There may well be a clash of Egos like we've not seen since AC LA 2009. I wonder how Froome will react to this? Hammer down on the first MTF. The tension in Sky won't be a helpful factor it could play into others hands.

If you were a British Corporation that sponsored a cycling team for publicity and you had two potential Grand Tour winners; one was born and raised down the street, a multiple Olympic medalist, including multiple gold medals, a multiple World Champion, a multiple National Champion, etc. In multiple disciplines of the sport with a compelling pulling himself up by the bootstraps story to boot, the other was a white guy from SA, a virtual nobody, having won virtually nothing.

Which cyclist would you pick to put you on the map?

The famous guy with the mod sideburns, or the whinging nobody who resented riding support in a sport that has a tradition of apprenticeship?

I would pick the strongest, but maybe that is just me.

I wonder if they make the Dawg sit at the back of the team bus.

If Froome was peaking for and riding the Giro I would hazard a guess that he would be minimum 4mins in front of Wiggins right now. Wiggins will be a non entity in the Tour. Fround do not need to worry.

She's not wrong in this case, though.

Well, there could probably be a Wiggins/Froome thread for all the piling on.

But, I do think she was just as wrong to publicly voice a dissenting opinion of her boyfriend's employer's tactics and then start pulling his coworker's wife's hair as Froome was to be visibly disrespectful to his team leader. I'm not a fan of either cyclist, but if I were Froome's boss, Cound wouldn't have a twitter account. I've read that even bad publicity is good publicity, but I don't think her noise is helpful.

As to what I think you're commenting on; Wiggins should have won the Giro first (if he could), before he started pushing Froome's buttons. Froome should just keep quiet and train. Both should worry about Contador/Purito/(and maybe, Evans).

Exciting Giro though...

The result of a flat TT is a close but inaccurate indicator of who had the bigger engine. But, who knows. They'll get a lot more marketing mileage out of Wiggins' win.

I wonder too, what everyone on the team thinks about the rest of the team; probably not a warm and fuzzy place.

“I don’t know what will happen, but [Sergio] Henao and I are different than Froome. We always work for the team and we’ve never had any problems with the team,” Urán said. “We are not like Froome. I came here with the idea of helping the squad, whatever the goals may be. We shall see. We have to take it day by day.”

Sergio and Rigo have more loyalty in their little fingers than others in Team Sky.
