This. I don't speak for everyone, but I know that some were making a slight deal about it because if Nibali shows weakness on that sort of climb (and I think he was), then he will show even more in the harder stages.

Contador is very good in climbs like this, the tipical climb of vasque country, step and not very long... but it is not 1 km climb, we talk about 3 kms climb...Contador is really good at that, but in long climbs he is not so good, he always attack very hard but he fade a little. The same for long ITT. We call in Spain "Gaseosas" for that to Alberto. He has a good gas, anyway...

Best climb for Contador is a climb as Verbier, as tomorrow La Planche... Nibali like more long and hard stage... Contador could put time on him, but it is not proportional to the difficulty of the stage.

But anyway if we calculate proportional, if with 3 kms he put 3 seconds, he need a lot of climbs of 10 kms to put just 1 minute...

Will Froome be back in form in time for the Vuelta?

Depends almost entirely on how quickly his wrist fracture heals and how well he is able to train while it is healing and after.

IOW, no one knows.

You can't calculate things that way. Once someone cracks seconds quickly turn into minutes.

But Nibali is not stupid and he knows he dont need to follow always Contador.
To lose 20 second tomorrow is not a problem.

You cant calculate things that way, of course, when a stage or a climb is really hard there is a pint when you start to make more differences...
But the same way I am sure Valverde wont lose less that 17 second in long climbs...

What I mean is that for Alberto a hard stage with long climbs it not proportionaly what more suit him, when ie for Andy was his best...

Respect ITT, Contador is not very good in long ones, if Nibali do like in 2013 Giro, he wiil be better than Alberto. This year he didnt race any long ITT, so there is not a good reference.

Do any of you think Froome will ever go for the Giro?. I would like him to win 3 on the trot then do a Giro/Vuelta double he is not that good at recovering from back to back GT's. I don't think he will ever do the Giro if he keeps winning when he lose's in the TDF he may try it. One thing for sure he loves La Vuelta it is his fav GT i think.
A much better rider joins Berto for the triple crown where Froome is still dreaming about a second GT win.

Who the hell has Nibali beat in his GT wins. Idiot.

Who the hell did Froome beat in his Tour win? a 23 year old plan B from Movistar in his 2nd GT, a 33 year old who wasn't even in good shape when the Tour started, a rider who had been riding backwards all year long and still got 4th, a domestique and Bauke Mollema were his 5 nearest rivals:rolleyes:

Still two GT's to go. I love fantasy cycling as much as anyone, but in the end its the cold hard facts. Nibali's Palmares crushes Froomes, so he's a much better rider right now. Fact.

Add the much more attractive riding style over MTF robo style Froome (let me watch my stem first!)and it's clear that Nibali simply of a higher class than Froome.

One's bias has never called a simple of a higher class. ;) Still dunno how AC & CF could have showed themselves up after seeing Nibs' show. Contrasts are to big to make an anunambiguous conclusion.

Ok i got it Nibali is a god, good for him but if you compare them strictly by TDF results let's see:Nibali's got a 3rd place in 2012 when he was beaten by that "watch my stem guy"who's got the 2nd place and is close to win now,but that "watch my stem guy"won it last year.So even if Nibali win this, the"watch my stem guy" still holds better results in TDF,just saying.
If we take all GT's you are right Nibali results are impressive and i don't think anyone deny this.
And that riding style crap doesn't mean nothing,at least for me anyway.Escartin was climbing very well without the need to look good on the bike like Wiggins for example.

Well in 2012, he beat your beloved rider by 3 minutes when he was only a domestique. Nibali is a pretender. He's never been any one good in a GT. Ever. And to get beat by Horner in last year's Vuelta. That says it all.

That's really not even worth responding to

Obviously I hope Froome doesn't go and win La Vuelta, but most of all I hope he doesn't go over the top ape**** again. If he wins in a 'normal' way or by tactics I might be a little okay with that
