We make alot of fun of him for being tacticaly inept. In this Vuelta on the other hand noone has been riding better than him energy wise. Kudos Froomey

Well put. Froome rode great today.

Nice one froome, he's the only guy who is a danger for Contador, i'm sure he realised that too today.

I always said it: the only way this can still be exciting if froome gets better although keep in mind that Contador prob blew himself up at the end but still gj.

Sky's measured scientific result resulted in their team leader almost dropping the other day. Don't mis-attribute Froome's individual quality and awesome WATTS to Sky's idiotic approach to all things cycling. Dawg himself wouldn't want you to, as he indicates in his first autobiography.
Since I see you've misinterpreted my post, I feel the need to elucidate.
The measured scientific approach on this particular climb means that one should strictly follow the pace calculated in advance. Not to be misled by the race situation and think like: "Just to overcome this ramp and I'll be spinning easier..." No, you won't. You'll just blow like Valverde has and Contador to certain extent.
Strictly follow the pace and Watts, that way you'll maximize invested energy.

just confirmed my early suspicious: The Alien has timed his peak at the right time, between the 3 MTF stages & next week with the stage 20 to rip the field apart......

game on...

Will see, this was way too short to really show if he's in the game or not.+1 minute to Contador will be hard to recover anyway, the differences between favorites in the Vuelta mouintain stages are small usually.

i said from the beginning that chris is the top favourite for the race. and he seems that slowly he's getting better and better. superb today and gives massive entertainment

dont be daft. Froome is certainly riding himself into decent enough form but he was flattered by the result today thanks to the big spanish riders attacking too much.

Contador still has a huge tactical advantage over Froome.
The Sky management will have to include Valverde, Uran and Rodriguez in their strategical scheme if they want to surpass Contador.
I'm afraid that Froome's strength won't be sufficient although on the rise.

I still don't see Froome coming back to win, but I have been very impressed with him since the ITT. He has said all along he hopes to peak for week 3 and perhaps it can happen.

It looks like the others may be made to pay for not killing him off on Wednesday.

Froome has taken 7 secs on Contador and is now 1:13 behind in GC. At this pace he still needs more than 10 MTFs to win the race.

Yes it is not that significant however in the long game it plants a little doubt in Contadors mind. They couldn't shake Froome when he was suffering and now Froome is perhaps starting to find his form again. It could be a fascinating final week. Froome in top form by next Sunday will also take valuable seconds in the 10k flat TT.

If he doesn't crash - it's quite a technical route.
